Sasha taqwšəblu LaPointe is a Court Salish woman living in Tacoma, Washington. In these essays, she writes about her family, her history, and her concerns as a queer indigenous woman. The essays' topics are wide-ranging and deeply personal. She writes about food, culture, her relationship with her mother, her queerness and more. Throughout, who she is and what her passions are loud and clear. Recommended.
When it first came out, I just wasn‘t ready for this book. Now that a number of years have gone by, the time felt right. This is an amazing read filled with anecdotes from the people who knew him and constructed by Laurie Woolever into a narrative that was much better than I even hoped.
Great book about unusual sports champions! Some were minus limbs, some had addictions & some were unusual in other ways!
This was a fast-paced nonfiction read filled with gritty and grisly details. This provides a pretty detailed account of Sinatra‘s relationship with the mob and their involvement in US politics. Most surprising was that Sinatra was never offed by the mafia. His childish temperament and buffoonish behavior seemed to cause the organization more headaches and lost opportunities than keeping him around was worth.

Great understanding of the life of Steve Jobs
This is a detailed account of Peter Freuchen, a legendary polar explorer. He had one of the more ridiculous, badass, and gross survival stories from his days of exploring Greenland. Outside of polar exploration, his life was filled with a variety of unique adventures and twists and turns.

A thorough, well-written history highlighting King‘s brilliance, charisma and frailty. I was shocked by the blatant police brutality and violence he and the non-violent civil rights marchers faced from people in public office in the south. King himself is flawed and clearly reluctant to take on the role he was given. The roles played by the Kennedys (surprisingly), LBJ, and Hoover and his FBI were also rather appalling.
I know it‘s not Tuesday, but I saw this and laughed so hard that I‘m going to be listening to CCR later on just for larks. I missed posting to this hashtag this past Tuesday, so here‘s a quick post today instead. 🎶
Best Spotify playlist ever! 🤣
