Hell's Bells | Lisa Quigley
2 posts | 1 read | 4 to read
It's 1991, and Sasha, Hayley, Tiffany and Jessica are four best friends into black clothes and rock music. They dabble in ouija boards and occult games like 'light as a feather.' But when Hayley gets 'saved', she's convinced rock music is satanic and conspires to save them all. Her good intentions go up in flames and the four girls accidentally summon the devil. Trapped in the basement with entities beyond their wildest nightmares, their only saving grace is rock & roll. They have to hope to hell it's enough, before another one bites the dust.

Seventeen year old Sasha has had it. Her music idol Freddie Mercury has just passed & her bff is on a personal crusade to save her soul from the evils of the world. After said friend Hayley shows a Christian propaganda video about how rock is devil's music, Sasha along with her other friends decide to summon the devil to prove to her friend that he's not real. But this is a horror novel. So, of course things don't go as they plan. My teen (CONT)

vivastory music loving self strongly identified with Sasha's passion for music. I also appreciated how things didn't go as you would expect after the summoning & there were some truly gross body horror scenes towards the end. Overall a fun ride & a good Rewind Or Die entry, even if it did fall a little flat at times. 1mo

Pickpick

Overall this is a pick. 4 17yo best friend girls who love black nail polish and rock suddenly find themselves having a rough time as one of the girls has been “saved” and what that means for the rest of the group. So why not summon the Devil? There was some great stuff about friendship and the power within. A whole love letter of a horror book basically dedicated to Queen and Freddy Mercury. The cool subversion of God and Devil. But there was👇🏼

Reggie something off for me in here. Like there were a bunch of cool parts that didn‘t completely come together for me. 3y
