This was an adorable romance with perfect pacing and a suspenseful, inevitable slow burn. Everything about the characters felt very measured and well-thought-out; without spoiling, the tropes are handled very thoughtfully and responsibly. Definitely look out for this one.

Amazing snapshot into colonialism, religion, and gender in a time and place I knew absolutely nothing about. The two main characters are incredibly sweet together, and I loved the tone of the ending. The book somehow strikes a balance between hopeful and nihilistic, which is perfect for right now.
