I just spent an inordinate amount of time making a PowerPoint (Canva) presentation about yetis for my first Cryptid of the Month Club at the library tomorrow.

TIL that Jimmy Stewart was involved in stealing mummified “yeti fingers” from monks in Nepal. His scientist friend wanted them, and he asked the monks and they said no. So he stole them, and gave them to Jimmy Stewart, who was headed back to London. 👇🏻

4 ⭐ Yetis are shy and quiet, but there is a goblin who is going to prove to you that they are the worst creatures out there. They just must find them first. This book is tongue in cheek. It is so much fun and not only are the illustrations great, but the cover of the book also has both scratchy and fluffy textures. It‘s the little things that count, and this book was a little joy to read.

Author/Illustrator Kevin Sherry, who I *love*, was commissioning pet portraits for Christmas. So, of course I scooped one up.

He asked for a curated selection of pet photos, along with a paragraph about your pet. I think he captured Moxie‘s essence quite well. 🐰🍌

An old passion, cryptozoology and the supernatural in general which despite over the years becoming much more about skepticism and doubt still provides a guilty pleasure. In this case the authors investigate the stars of cryptozoology Loch Ness and other lake and sea monsters, Bigfoot and Yeti‘s documenting the origins of the stories, the key beliefs associated with these creatures and other explanations for these tales.

So, Douglas Preston has a fascinating article in the New Yorker about remains found in the Himalayas and DNA and anthropology and totally reminded me of this book. I remember getting it on audioCASSETTE (👵🏻) at the library because it was very long and being absolutely captivated. Like, I still think about it, 20some years later. I‘d love to do a reread, but my libraries don‘t have it and I‘m worried it wouldn‘t hold up at all. Have you read it?

Great children‘s book about cryptozoology! The chapters include the lock ness monster, yeti & Bigfoot.

It‘s cute but story was just okay, but I did think the illustrations were great.
