Dragons of Introvertia | James And Bit Barringer
1 post | 1 read
Action, adventure, magic, and dragons set in a kingdom full of introverts! Fifteen-year-old Eza Skywing is studying to join the dragon-companions, the legendary protectors of the Kingdom of Introvertia. He's just completed his Year of Silence and is supposed to receive his very own dragon - but something has gone wrong and hundreds of the kingdom's dragons are missing! How could something like this have happened? Fifty miles away in the Kingdom of Exclaimovia, the brilliant and vibrant Cammie Ravenwood has discovered a horrible secret: her people have stolen Introvertia's dragons and intend to train a fighting army! Always impulsive, she does the only thing she can think of: set out for Introvertia, her kingdom's sworn enemies, to try and find someone who can help her return the stolen dragons and prevent a war! The first person she meets is Eza, and the two of them set out on a daring rescue mission. Along the way they fight off a kidnapping attempt, escape from a horde of angry mountain goats, and meet the most arrogant Artomancer known to man - and that's before they even get back to Exclaimovia! Cammie and Eza have no choice - they must overcome their differences and rescue the dragons...without annoying each other to death in the process! Yet the war they hope to prevent may only be heating up...

Pickpick

I love the fact that Eza‘s kingdom, Introvertia, focuses on active listening and empathy. The idea of a culture based on these key communication skills is enthralling, and it made me wonder what kind of place we would be living in if our world was a little more like that. Additionally, I know the book is technically labeled as young adult, but it certainly reads more like middle grade, but regardless, I enjoyed it.
