Sprich mit mir
Sprich mit mir: Roman | T.C. Boyle
5 posts | 1 read

Pickpick

I dare to promise that this is a book not to be forgotten soon.

I was so involved. In both, the experimental side of it and in the moral “dilemma”. Tiny things here and there seemed a bit far-fetched to me but overall I was surprised by how up-to-date I thought the plot would be. It took me far to long to understand we‘re supposed to be somewhere in the 70‘s I guess.

And yes, I believe Sam is authentic.
Well researched, Mr. Boyle. 👏🏼

I love it when I‘m having a sound grasp of contemporary developments concerning my reading choices. 🥰 May sound random but is in fact something that happens so, so seldom.
Above you see an article about an interview with T. C. Boyle. Topic is his new book, of course, that I currently am audio-reading.

At first: “Oh, I care for you. I raise you, educate you. You‘re a family member.”

Then: “Oh, you grow. That wasn‘t to be expected. *️⃣ That‘s causing multiple problems, also, because of my intervention, you don‘t fit in nowhere. Not into human society and not into your original wildlife community. – Okay, then let me dispose you.”

*️⃣ Yepp. Completely. As surprising as Christmas. “Oh, it‘s on 24th, 25th December, why didn‘t I _know_⁉️”

🤮😢

I started this audiobook maximum 2 days ago but I can hardly put it down. It‘s already almost half over – and now around about hour 4, 4,5 of 9 I constantly wonder how humans can do what they do❓ I mean I‘m part of that race. But how can we, how dare we be so cruel, selfish and indifferent⁉️

(Explained in next post, marked with a spoiler.)

Current audio-read. 🦧

I 🤎 it‼️ I was very proud (why? 🤔) when I accidentally learned in my newspaper‘s book journal that T. C. Boyle‘s new book was published in Germany earlier than in the U.S.

And I was happily exited when it was my turn to snatch it at my library. 😃

Boyle‘s story of a chimpanzee being taught sign language and being raised like a child until he becomes too old and behaves too ape-like to still be guidable … ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Buechersuechtling (Continued from above) is soo interesting. Not only because I became aware of how how few I personally know/recall about apes. But also because it brings up basic questions about humans, human condition, since and research. 🔚 (edited) 3y
