A Quiet Belief In Angels
A Quiet Belief In Angels | R.J. Ellory

A superb, atmospheric thriller from 'one of crime fiction's new stars' [Sunday Telegraph] Joseph Vaughan's life has been dogged by tragedy. Growing up in the 1950s, he was at the centre of series of killings of young girls in his small rural community. The girls were taken, assaulted and left horribly mutilated. Barely a teenager himself, Joseph becomes determined to try to protect his community and classmates from the predations of the killer. Despite banding together with his friends as ' The Guardians', he was powerless to prevent more murders - and no one was ever caught. Only after a full ten years did the nightmare end when the one of his neighbours is found hanging from a rope, with articles from the dead girls around him. Thankfully, the killings finally ceased. But the past won't stay buried - for it seems that the real murderer still lives and is killing again. And the secret of his identity lies in Joseph's own history...

EadieB @Crazeedi I‘ve read all his book except the last 3 that he wrote but I do have copies and will read them soon. I think I like Candlemoth the best but they are all good. I met RJ online with a Barnes and Noble group around 2010 and talked with him on FB. He thanked me for promoting his books. I told him I really enjoy his books. He is also a musician in a band in the UK. Very talented person! Haven‘t talked with him for awhile but will do so soon. 3y

EadieB @Crazeedi I may have a few more around here and when I find them I‘ll send them to you. I‘m setting up my new library now and made some curtains but I‘ve had to order more material for the other window which came today. Tomorrow I am a guest reader for my grandson‘s 2nd grade online class. He doesn‘t know that the guest reader is me. My daughter said he will happy when he finds out. I hope so! 3y

This is a book that I don't see much about here on litsy or elsewhere; but is a book that will unexpectedly unnerve the reader. A series of murders are committed in Georgia (USA) between 1939-'49. We never actually witness any of the crimes committed that are at the heart of this story; but experience them vicariously through the imagination of the protag who feels connected in some way to the murderer and resolves to find him/her. #AllHallowsRead
