Lawrence Anthony details his struggle to save the last northern white rhinos.
Wonderfully written, albeit a hard read especially because rhinos are my favorite animal.

I really liked this, even though there was more politics in the book than I‘d expected. The start and end of the book focused on the rhinos and the animals in Lawrence‘s own reserve, but most of the middle of it was his negotiations with the LRA. Even so, it was written in a way that I was quite interested in how it would all go, both with the animals and with the peace negotiations.
The best book I‘ve read this year! Amazing man, amazing stories. I know I lot about the subject (wrote my thesis about illegal wildlife trade), yet I learned new things. How is it possible that a conservationist becomes a trustee of the second most wanted man by the International Criminal Court? How is it possible that the same man spends days in one of the most dangerous places on earth, with one of the most dangerous rebel groups in the world?
That fabulous moment when you realize you have totally forgotten about a fantastic book you own! Highly admire Lawrence Anthony. Sadly, he died just before the launch of this book. Definitely one of the people I would like to invite for dinner, whether I could invite three of five or whatever.
