Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 1
Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 1 | Chris Claremont, Jo Duffy, Scott Edelmen
9 posts | 2 read
When a young writer named Chris Claremont took over X-Men in 1976, few fans could predict the incredible impact he would have on the series. With a flair for realistic dialogue, heartfelt storylines and hard-hitting action, Claremont's writing breathed life into the characters. In collaboration with artists Dave Cockrum and John Byrne, Claremont crafted a run still heralded as a definitive era on the book. X-Men became more than just another super-hero title: this diverse cast of mutants fighting against prejudice and intolerance has resonated in the hearts of millions of devoted readers. COLLECTING: GIANT-SIZE X-MEN 1, X-MEN (1963) 94-131, ANNUAL (1970) 3

Pickpick

In 1975 the X-men had a renaissance. This is the moment comic books became something for readers of all ages.

The work in this hefty volume sets up literal decades of storytelling and character arc and is a must for anyone with a soft spot for the X side of the Marvel universe.

This is a beautiful volume, plenty of extras, both new and from the time. An important moment of comic book history reprinted for modern audiences.

I'm usually crap at podcasts because they keep me from focusing on audiobooks, but I love Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men so much that I've abandoned all hope of listening to anything else until I'm caught up. If you're a hearing person who likes the X-Men, you MUST give them a try.

Love at first sight. This relationship was the first thing that made me love X-Men comics as a kid. Colossus is my favorite hero. The big strong guy that's really a softey and an artist. Him truly being heroic for his sister later on. But here in this panel is where it began. I hope my wife said I was "kinda neat looking too" when she saw me.

The Internet didn't invent trolls, they've been around since at least 1975. It just gave a place to collect them all.

What a description of Thunderbird, " a insolent, younger, not as interesting copy of Hawkeye"

In response to a Native American glad to see himself represented, but sad to see him killed off.

My reaponse: but you're the writer, you could have made him, something other than that.

Not sure why I loved Sunfire as a kid, I guess because he never appeared a lot, but what a dick.
