I had so much fun reading this book. Claire and her team find the lost space luxury liner The Aurora but find that something horrific happened onboard. The tension and dread that build as they explore is so well done.

I enjoyed this #LMPBC read. An interesting look at the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary. I was struck several times by how some of the same fights/struggles for women to be valued as more than property continue today. As one of the characters says, even when women win the vote, the fight for equality is not over. @Desha I will get this in the mail to you on Monday.

Was kinda disappointed with this one. I expected it to be more like their pod cast and not a self help/memoir. If I had gone into it knowing that I think I would have enjoyed it more. The ladies are hilarious as always and it was interesting to learn more about them. I just wish there was more murder.

#WondrousWednesday Thank you @Desha for tagging me. 1) I try hard to read everyday but some days are definitely harder than others. 2) I always carry a book with me and will read while waiting or when there is downtime. I also try to read before bed. 3) My comfort genre is middle grade. Give me Percy Jackson to spend time with and I am a happy girl. I can read those books over and over

Eggs Love this! I‘m a fan of MG too! 2mo

Interesting story of a group of seven young thespians who are inseparable until one of them ends up dead. For me this was somewhat hard to read due to much of the dialogue being lines from Shakespeare plays. On the one hand—cool format and makes sense that the kids would intersperse Shakespeare into their vocabulary. On the other hand—Shakespeare is not easy to read and digest quickly. I liked the story but didn‘t love it

Totally had a Stranger Things feel. Curious to see where the story goes. Once I figured out that this was by the same author who wrote Saga, I could totally aspects of that story here too.

4⭐️ I have really enjoyed listening to this series on audiobook. They are laugh out loud funny to me and a great “easy” read. I think I actually liked this book better than the first one. Now that I know the characters, I find myself just falling into the story.

3⭐️ Poppy‘s grandmother sends her on an adventure to collect 1000 boy kisses. What follows is Poppy and Rune‘s love story. Although the story could be a little heavy handed on telling you they are soulmates, it did make me cry a few times. The last third of the book had some beautiful imagery and quotes but be sure to have a Kleenex near by

This is a story about a teenager searching for belonging and the attraction of a Manson-like cult. The author captures perfectly what it feels like to been a teen trying to figure out who you are. There was just too much extra stuff in the book that bogged it down and made me not like it as much as I could.

3⭐️ While I enjoyed the idea of this book, I had a hard time with the pacing and development of the book. There was ultimately very little character development in the book and each chapter was like a short scene in life sometimes having absolutely no connection with the next scene. I wanted more depth. That said, I do think that the author was successful in describing the hard lives that faced not only people of color but the mountain folk too.

4⭐️ I enjoyed this look into the world of being deaf. The formatting for conversations took a little getting used to but I ended up really appreciating the differentiation between what was spoken and signed. The language and history lessons interspersed throughout the book added a lot of context and further interest.

2⭐️. I‘m in the minority here but this book just didn‘t do it for me. Not sure if it was because I was listening to the audiobook or what, but I had a hard time. I did like the idea and the thriller aspects and really liked Devon‘s character and backstory. There were just little things that would take me out of the story: Do people really sign their text messages with their initials? That got super annoying while listening. wish I liked it more

3.5⭐️ I finally gave in and had to see what all the hype was about. I enjoyed it but didn‘t love it. Had a hard time getting into the first half of the book but I did like the world building. The ending definitely picked up and kept me interested enough to pick up book number two. Hoping it just keeps getting better. Also, so glad my library had this cover. The one with the faceless girl on the front really bugs me. Anyone else agree?

KateReadsYA I definitely like these covers so much more. Book 2 was my favorite read this year so far. I hope you enjoy it more than book 1! I was obsessed with this series after book 2 🤩 5mo

4⭐️ I loved Anthony Bourdain and his many travel/food shows. To me he brought a realness not seen in other shows. This book takes a look behind the scenes and also walks through Vitale‘s navigation of his own grief after Bourdain died. I devoured this on an airplane doing my own traveling( although not to anywhere as exciting as they went). I laughed and I cried along with the author and reminisced about some of these episodes I‘d seen.

3⭐️interesting plot that follows a voodoo practitioner in New Orleans who is trying to solve a murder. While the writing jumped all over the place sometimes, I did enjoy the characters and a look into the practice of voodoo. The author did have a weird habit of using the character‘s full names whenever they show up. That got annoying after a while. Overall it was a decent read once I got used to the writing style

Interesting story that spins the legend of King Arthur a direction that I did not expect. The story did drag at times due to all of the set up needed to explain the magic systems and history, but there is plenty of action as well. I liked Bree‘s character and the complexity that is her. Also may have a slight book crush on Sel.

Frank owns a music shop that sells only vinyl records. The author goes back and forth between current day and little snippets of Frank‘s youth and learning about music with his mother Peg. Oh how I wish Peg was real and I could listen to the Hallelujah Chorus with her and Frank. I enjoyed the characters more than the actual story but it is worth reading just for the descriptions of the music.

Overall cute story of how Jules navigates his senior year of high school and coming out to his friends and family. Full of pop culture references and witty banter, Jules felt real and like he could be my little brother. I did like how much culture was included in this book. The Spanish slang and the food… omg the food! Don‘t read this when you are hungry.

I really liked this book. While the tone was grim and depressing, I felt like you got to know the characters well. I could hear Feelia‘s voice so clearly. The author‘s message of what does it take for women to be listened to was evident on every page. Not an easy book to read, but a good one.

4⭐️ I really enjoyed this book. At the center is a story about a two girls who were raped and the aftermath of that. Told through multi formats like emails and podcasts, we follow the trial surrounding the rape. Discussions of why women often are not believed, the difficulties in trying a rape case and the trauma all take place and left my heart hurting with sadness at how little value is placed on women sometimes. The audiobook is great.

3⭐️ I went into this with high expectations, mostly because of all the glowing reviews. What I got was a short story of a girl trying to survive murderous jellyfish like aliens. Because the book is so short, there isn‘t a whole lot of time to explain things and so I felt dumped into a world I know nothing about and still felt that way at the end. This one just didn‘t do it for me.
