I will be honest, I don't understand half the things Dirk Gently says, but I still want to read more of him, just for his childish, quirky mannerisms and the whole 'HOLISTIC' thing. I enjoy it very much.

I Need Help | Vic Lee

Hello Litsy,

Please help me find a good audio book app. Does Amazon have such an app. Please help?

SW-T Amazon has audible narration for some books. I know people who use Hoopla, Overdrive, Audible, and LibriVox for audiobooks. I usually read paper or digital so can‘t say which is best. 1w
LibrarianRyan Being anti amazon I don‘t use audible. Depending on your library they probably have a or a few options like Hoopla, Libby, Cloud Library, Acix 360. For purchase there is Libro.fm. (Like Audible but NO amazon) And a a new one Chirp from Bookbub. It would have audios marked down and lots of Indy and small press 1w
shammi.dc10 @LibrarianRyan thank you, that was very helpful!! 1w
shammi.dc10 @SW-T I l, too, am a paper or digital kind of guy, this was for a friend. Thanks for the suggestions!! 1w

Finally ended this one today.
Highly recommended for everyone who likes historical fiction, it's detail is it's USP.Looking forward to other parts.
If you do read it, please keep an ice pack with you for the hand cramps and comments like "how can you read such a long book""I would run away just by looking at the size of this book" etc etc

PS:Comments translated to bad English from Hindi(my native language), kind of loses the essence!

blurb
shammi.dc10

As I finish this book, one has to appreciate the extensive research that must have been done to write this book.I loved the parts of fictional characters with real life people. It also argues correctly that WW I was an unnecessary war, and the part aristocracy played in starting a brutal war in Germany, Russia and even Britain.America comes out good BTW. Read it if you love historical fiction but there is a lot of realism for history buffs as well.

blurb
shammi.dc10

Grigori and Walter are two other characters whose arc i really enjoyed. Walter, a very intelligent and astute man and Grigori, a brave man who defied his masters and contributed in starting a revolution.

blurb
shammi.dc10

counted 8 central characters around which the story revolves and ot is hard to pick a favorite. Everone delights or dismays at some point. The most fascinating would be Ethel, a feminist, a powerful character, sometimes struggling for her love to an unfaithful man but never wavering from her principles and her fight for women's rights in a difficult period of the 1st world war.

Still have 100 pages to go in this 850 page first part of three.

I realized that when you read a book of this volume, if the story is good, the characters start to grow on you. I have always loved historical fiction and I was looking forward to reading this one and so far it has not disappointed.

Also, I was not expecting so many intimate and steamy scenes and I am only 300 hundred pages in.

One Word : POETIC
This book is phenomenal. it is a rollercoaster of emotions, dazzling your senses but touching your heart at the same time. Everything is beautiful about this book, the themes, the characters, the writing. Jean Valjean, the central character, should be the compass for morality for everyone. This is one book that will stay with you for a really long time, one I'll recommend everyone to read.

🌟🌟🌟
This was a typical Jeffrey Archer book, fast paced with enough twist and turns to keep you engaged. His books are more about the story development rather than it's characters which is fine if it runs on a good pace. The only problem with this one is the ending, the end didn't make any sense at all. The last 10 pages where a big reveal was to happen were very confusing. 3 stars because of the bad ending.

One of the funniest books i have ever read.Tom's thirst for adventure and Huck's reluctance for any adventure makes the perfect combination for the comical & bizare situations. It perfectly highlights how low people think of minorities & women, which is still very prevalent. This book has a lot of laughs but it also sheds light on the troubled time it is set up in.I liked Jim's character, he is a slave but is not bitter & emerges a hero in the end.

SW-T Nice summary 🙂 2mo

Whatever your views are on the last few episodes of GOT, it was an incredible show. GOT books and tv show have been the best fantasy world I have read and seen. The show was beautiful, the books even more so(still 2 more to go). GOT has been the best escape for the past 10 years. I am a fan and always will be!!! #thankyou #GOTForever

InBooksILive I'm so sad it's over! It was my favorite show. I was a bit disappointed with the last couple episodes but I understand it. 2mo
shammi.dc10 @InBooksILive You get disappointing episodes in every big TV show, also if you have read the books, book 4 - A Feast for Crows was also very disappointing. 2mo

I believe that this book is very relevant for our times, be it India or any other country. It stresses on the importance of a free voice and how we should use it and keep fighting for it, continue to ask tough questions.
Ravish Kumar is one of the finest journalist in our country and he has written a very thoughtful and meaningful book.It shows how hate & intolerance is growing and can only be challenged by debate & dialogue & a lot of courage.

It's a sweet love story but asks some very pertinent questions. Its heart breaking and hopeful at the same time. It's about love and remorse at the same time. The book deals with teenagers wrestling with all kinds of complex issues & how important it is to talk to someone about it.The romance is beautiful, the loss heartbreaking, all in all a really good book
PS: This book could also be used as a guide to visit all the wonderful places in Indiana.

It rained today in Delhi which is unusual for this month. The rain and the cool breeze was very soothing just like this book. Even though the story is one of remorse and tragedy, it is told in the most simplest of manner with quotes from various books describing the characters feelings, it has a lot of emotions. 100 pages in and I am hooked.

The highlight of every fantasy or science fiction book is the world it is set in.More than the characters, one needs to believe that such a world exists. If the writer is able to make you believe in a make believe world then he/she has done his job.Artemis's world is one I believe in.I believe that events that take place, however ludicrous they may seem, are possible. Book 6 deals in time travel & Colfer makes it very believable, very fascinating.

Finally completed this mamoth of a book. This is not a novel,it reads like a history research book with events, dates. The only difference is, it is filled with bloody wars, betrayals, sex and of course dragons.I love the GOT universe & it was great reading about the history. This is only the 1st half, the other one is yet to come.Since it's about history it can get tedious at times but it is a very enjoyable read. Dragons keep it interesting.

This is Aegon III Targaryen, became King after the Dance of Dragons. He was only 10 years old when he became King.

The first Targaryen to conquer, unite and rule seven kingdoms was also an Aegon.

Also, as per Game of Thrones, the TV series, Jon Snow's actual name is Aegon Targaryen, name given by his actual parents Rhaegar Targaryen & Lyanna Stark.

There are so many Aegons in the Targaryen blood line, it's hard to keep track.

It has everything from time travel to magical healing, insane unimaginable tech to bizarre characters.Read it if you enjoy good science fiction.
