I‘m supervising Brownie camp this weekend so of course my personal life is blowing up 💣 (sorry husband that you are dealing with it ❤️) There is my brownie playing. During downtime I‘ve been reading the tagged book which is... I‘m reading it. I don‘t know if I would say it‘s good. I keep rolling my eyes at the utter ridiculousness but it‘s an easy read taking my mind off of other things.

Mimi28 I hope things get better and the book does also ❤️❤️ 9h

ALL OF THE GOLD STARS!! Wow! This is hands down my favourite #netgalley so far. It‘s about two NYPD cops who buy neighbouring houses in a suburb in New York and how their lives connect over the years. Just astounding (honestly) so beautifully written and the characters are so genuine. I was moved the whole time I was reading this, and I have a cold 🖤 so... it takes a lot. So good! So many ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Loved it! Maureen and Harrold are married journalists who seem like the perfect couple, but Harrold is abusive. After a terrible beating, Maureen takes their baby daughter and runs, landing in a small New England town. It was a great story, told from the perspective of several characters. I found parts difficult to read, but it‘s not a graphic book just very uncomfortable at times. Beautifully written, I would absolutely recommend.

Probably 15 years ago I worked with a girl who said she had read the best book ever. I convinced her to lend it to me (proceeded to keep it, I‘m so sorry) and agreed. It was The Last Time They Met by Anita Shreve and it blew my mind. I haven‘t read a lot of her other books because they might not stand up to the pedestal that one is on, but this one is amazing. I‘ve been in a book finishing slump but I‘m coming out!

Reagan-reads @Kaye thanks for the recommendation! I tried Fortune‘s Rocks and just could not get into it but maybe I‘ll have to give that one a shot. Plus true crime connection 👍🏻 1w

I‘ve been #netgalley binging lately. This was such a fun book, lots of twists and turns. It was an easy, entertaining read. From the first page to the last, I had a hard time putting this book down. This has been a highlight of my recent ARCs and I would recommend it. It‘s out in August and would be a solid beach read.

Bus read! Well, our election was... an election? I‘m just going to say that I really enjoy being able to lose myself in a book when I feel like the world is going the wrong way. I am super excited to finally be tackling this series. I am all about the big series this year. I want to finish the Natchez Trilogy and The Passage trilogy. Neither of those is a quick or light read 😬 and I have ALL of the netgalleys. Time to lose myself in fiction!

I really enjoyed this. There was a great line at the end that I should have written down but basically she said she might not always be right but at least she was honest (desperately hoping I got the gist of that) and I loved it. I don‘t necessarily agree with her 100% of the time but I believe her and I love her confidence and her unwillingness to be put down. I think she is an inspiration and we could all take a lesson from her openness.

We finished reading The Witches (book 11 for March) and the library can through with the movie which she is loving! I never read any Ronald Dahl as a child so I am loving reading them with Freja. Next up, James and the Giant Peach. This one was great though, and surprisingly dark although that seems to be a trademark of his. I really liked the non-fairytale ending, and if your kid has a dark sense of humour then I would recommend. A fun read aloud

I‘ll admit, I was on the fence with this one for about 500 pages, I can‘t believe I continued reading but I am so glad I did. It‘s a vampire apocalypse! This books jumps a bit between 3 time periods, but just ended up being this really lovely tale of survivors. I found it a bit taxing to try to keep up with all the characters but it was so worth it. I don‘t know if I consider the end a cliffhanger or a throat punch, but I bought the second book.

Today has been a real ridiculous day at work in which I was way too hard on myself and texted my husband that I was getting fired. At least my boss laughed 😕 but I read this little gem and LOVED IT! Kind of surprised by the lowish ratings on GR, it‘s like a character study that I wouldn‘t classify as “literary” in which a woman‘s obsession with her actress neighbour gets dangerously out of control. It made me squirm.

This book was the cutest! An American student meets a prince (meet-cute 🚨) and they fall in love. It was a little predictable but completely worth it, just adorable. I will say that when I picked this up from the library, the page count threw me a bit, and I questioned how badly I wanted to read it. Yes, it‘s long but it doesn‘t drag at all. All of the stars!! If you aren‘t familiar, in 1959, nine experienced hikers in the Ural Mountains left their tent, in various stages of undress, and died under mysterious circumstances. This book does a great job of addressing all the various conspiracy theories surrounding the deaths, and there are many! I thought it was well researched, and very well written. I will also say that I think the conclusion that Eichar arrives at is the best.
