Hmmm went to library book sale today (shocking, I know) and was super excited to find this book. Got home and found this note inside the cover 🤭 haha I have to say, this is making me very curious! Thanks for the honesty Meredith.

Hooked_on_books I appreciate Meredith‘s honesty but totally disagree. I thought this one was great! 13h
Zelma 😂 I would be so tickled to find a review in a booked I bought. I didn‘t hate this one, but I have the #unpopularopinion that it wasn‘t great. Good concept, strong beginning, but fell apart toward the end. 1h

3/4 worth of boring with a decent ending. Not sure if was worth the struggle to finish but I did think it was a solid final push. If this book was a cat, I would obviously adopt it but it would not be my favourite.

britt_brooke Love your last line! 😆 Great review. 3d
Hooked_on_books You‘ve managed to describe how I feel about the two books of his I read. He seems to do a whole of writing with the barest whisp of a plot. I don‘t get the adulation. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 3d
Reagan-reads @britt_brooke thank you! @Hooked_on_books I liked the first book but I think this might be it for me. I just didn‘t think it was worth the effort. 3d

The thing about the dirt cheap ebooks it is so hard to say no to, is that they might not be great. Maybe it‘s too early, maybe your instincts are right 🤷‍♀️ I have been on a real library kick lately and not reading my mountains of owned books so I am on a self imposed “kobo reading in bed only” rule. I am a terribly inconsistent user of my ereader.

I‘m bailing. I‘m so sad, I was beyond excited for this book but it is just not what I expected. I only made it about 30 pages in and am just not into it at all. This is easily a top 3 horror movie for me and I wish the book was more in line with what I was expecting. I will rewatch the movie soon though, so that will be fun and terrifying.

The other day, I was teaching a gender studies class-nine teenage girls all anxious to say the right thing, their desks in a circle-and my students and I were talking about mothers. We were talking about the impossible positions they are placed in, the ways in which they are our models; we were talking about what little space moms have to also need and also want.

😥

AutumnRLS This is a great collection of essays. Not what I expected, but beautifully written and often heartbreaking. 1mo

I‘m out so enjoy the stock image I took a screenshot of 🤷‍♀️ loved it, loved it, loved it. It reminded me of The Road but in all good ways. It‘s completely different but that lovely type of post apocalyptic fiction that makes you think “Shit, that‘s probably not far off. We‘re all going to die.” Beware, this was an uncomfortable and haunting read. Upside, there is way less cannibalism in this than in The Road.

Yesterday, I was walking by the bookshelf and I just stopped and grabbed The Bachman Books, flipped to The Long Walk and dug in. Hmmm, I did not love this book. It was not suspenseful, I immediately had suspicions about several characters that were proven to be true. I mean, I finished the book, but I will not be looking for the sequels. I found Manon to be really difficult to root for, and just didn‘t really care by the time I got the (predictable) ending.
