When litsy broke, I counted up everything Id read and my list was 29. Since my goal was 24, Im 5 books beyond yay! Not the most books read, but much better!

Im spending time away from the Raven Cycle and into this book which is very timely since I have a close cousin with Stage 4 cancer... Not only is it adding reams to an already full TBR pile, but its also helping me with things to say and not to say; which is improving my bedside ettiquette #tbrmonsters #thebigc

This maybe would be a good book for a hs graduate or better a bar or bat mitzvah or confirmation gift. Me being 41, this was a waste of my time. Actually, in those examples above get yourself or the graduate 20,000 Days and Counting by Robert D Smith. Its a much better book for the subject matter. The book by Quindlen was very trite and the photography mediocre by today's standards

So this maybe wouldn't have even showed up on Litsy as I started reading it on Scribd (still trying to decide what I want to do with books I read in eformat) Its a sympathetic introduction and the subtitle is What NonMuslims Should Know, which is originally what attracted me. It was a little too abridged in beliefs.. perhaps the fault was in my expectations. It really will help me in my life-I have a friend and a peer counselor both who are Muslim

This was a good continuation of the series..... however I rated it so-so because one needs to have read the 18 or 19 volume xxxHolic series the 26 volume Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle series and their sequel series xxxHolic Rei v.1-3 and Tsubasa World Chronicle v.1-3 for it to make sense... Thats a really big time commitment even in manga. 3 stars

Caveat: dont even try this book if you dont like poetry.. that being said, anyone who enjoys poetry or books on depression or mental illness I think would like this book. Three stars.

note: NSFW and contains language and explicit material so don't hand this to your Mom. Billed as the backstory to Wild on a podcast I listened to, these letters and responses were coarse, quirky, tragic, heartwarming, and down to earth. I didnt know what to expect but I was not disappointed.

I identify with a lot of Gilbert's questions about existence and spirituality. Thats mainly why I loved this book and am giving it five stars. Also I loved how she divided her travels and the book into 108 essays. Im a little vexed that she doesn't mention her yogis name or Ashram. I want to go now! It sounds beautiful!

I was really hesitant to read this because the movie was so confusing to me- until a friend put it in my hands and said "read it." Surreal, inspiring, comforting, and ordinary... Its so hard to talk about without spoilers... It makes me wonder who my five people would be.

So this is a pick with one big caveat: It is definitely of the Christian persuasion. I was ready for a syrup filled offering but she startles out of the gate talking about the lack of god and gratitude of any kind in her family growing up. The book is about a challenge that a friend gave her. For a book without specific personal challenges, it seemed to take me a long time to read, but I think that is because it is dense with ideas. The best kind

Ive decided that I must like the narrator or protagonist somewhat to enjoy a book... this has a wonderful plot twist but the characters are so unlikeable that it took me 4 tries to get to page 9... 4th time was the charm and I got to the end which I felt was just quirky enough to satisfy myself about my use of time. 2.5 stars because the foreshadowing was so heavy if it was a mystery of any kind youd have to be blind

There really wasnt much better a companion for the stormy nights of October than this book--all 2-3 nights I spent to read it.. I learned a lot of trivia about mysticism and lay lines... I wasnt ready for it to turn into a series... I was expecting resolution to everything in this book... so Im curious what the next book will be like 3 or 3.5 stars... it was a good book without anything wrong with it, but it didnt make me cry like wintersong

This is one of those picks that has been pending on my TBR list since high school. I think what stopped me is the terrible adaptations for TV and cinema, which I've somehow managed to watch. There's a reason several editions of this book are still available from the library. 4 stars only because 5 stars are reserved for books that change my life in some way.

You can tell Adams has a similar view of philosophers as my other half. I remain intrigued though.

So some of the blurbs touting this book on the back are rather telling, like "Adorably Offensive" or Neil Gaiman's response to her book which was "The Bloggess writes stuff that is laugh-out-loud, but you know that really you shouldn't be laughing and probably you'll go to hell for laughing, so maybe you shouldn't read it. That would be safer and wiser." Lots of bad language and mention of female body parts. Still, the highlight of my week 4stars

I give this a tentative 4.5 stars out of 5, mainly because it was slow going in the beginning and didn't seem very original in its advice at first. This may be partly because I read so much in this area. What was most useful to me was all the way in the back of the book, but I took notes and will use it to tweak my life so while technically it deserves 5 stars, I just cant give it that because its only 3 stars in the beginning.

It was beautiful and haunting.. 4 out of 5 stars, only because 5 of 5 is reserved for books that change my life in some way.
