pickJust finished listening to this on Audible. Really great narrator - it gave me all the feels! If you haven‘t read it, it‘s told from the perspective of a mother, father, sister and brother after the mysterious death of a teenage girl. A really good insight into family dynamics and thought provoking about racism and sexism. Reminded me what it was like to be a teen - good for me as I‘m a parent to a teen now!
Centique PS @batsy just read your review on GR after I wrote this and I do get what you mean. I have a feeling I wouldn‘t like reading this as much as I did listening to it - I think it would have grated a little on me. And also YES Hanna is the best. I still want to kick all of them for ignoring Hanna. 5y

Reggie Oh, poor all knowing ignored Hannah. When I finished this book, I went to McDonald‘s after and started crying in the drive thru line just thinking about this book. I loved the part where the son gets drunk and he hears the word, son. It‘s from the sheriff. Loved this book. 5y

Centique @Reggie oh man I felt for all of those kids. And the parents too at times - I‘m going to give it to a few mums I know to read because so many of us stop seeing our kids with open eyes y‘know? 😥 5y
Reggie @Centique totally, I was impressed how Celeste was able to turn a cookbook into a touchstone that stood for a cage for the mom, and then she goes to the extreme other side with her daughter. So sad. 5y
