pickI love me some history and I was surprised at how informative this book was about the horrors of the trenches and war. Since it's a Christmas book about the Christmas truce of 1941 (which I'd only heard about briefly) it does have a merry tone. Recommended as a read along #tmskellington #wintergames #holidayread

I've been feeling sad today about the inauguration tomorrow - avoiding the news and social media, trying to tend to my soul. Today I read this. I am reminded that as much as I detest our president-elect, I can still appreciate living in a democracy and be grateful the description in this quote doesn't apply to me. I accept some will be hopeful tomorrow and some will mourn, but as for me, I am finally able to respect all sides. #peace #truce
