What if the coolest girls in the school were secretly a pack of werewolves? Would you be willing to join their gang?

I wrote a kind of combined review of both of Ciara Smyth's YA books for Autostraddle: https://www.autostraddle.com/ciara-smyths-queer-ya-books-remind-me-of-being-a-te....
Both are as hilarious as they are moving, with a very authentic and empathetic feel to her queer teenage characters. Not My Problem is laugh-out-loud funny, make-you-cry sad, and everything in between. I loved it! #QueerBooks #LGBTQBooks #LGBTQ #QueerYA
Ciara Smyth is so funny. One of the best YA authors writing today, imho. You can tell she is really is in touch with contemporary teens (she is also a social worker).

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! There is a lot going on in Like Other Girls – effortlessly and deftly balanced, by the way – but at its core it's a story about a closeted butch lesbian teen struggling with and overcoming internalized misogyny. Also: lots of football, female friendship and solidarity, swoony romance, intergenerational queer mentorship, masculine of centre gender expression, anger management, and a whole lot of personal growth.
Mara's excitement and wonder when she sees an adult who's a butch lesbian 😭
Queer kids seeing queer adults thriving is so important

Next! Third book for #JubilantJuly; working through some of my #queerya on backlog. I have always enjoyed Robin Reardon‘s books, and this one looks really good.
