Pickpick

A must-read for every clothes-wearing human, particularly in America, the UK, and Germany (apparently the 3 largest textile-waste-producing nations).
Follow a pair of jeans from farming cotton fiber to its spinning into yarns, to where those yarns are woven into denim fabric to where the fabric is cut & sewn into jeans, where the jeans are sold to where they enter the 2ndhand trade to where they finally end either recycled or in a landfill.

Tamra I am feeling even better about my second hand clothes shopping! I rarely purchase anything new. I‘m short and slight, which makes it easier bc I buy what are probably items youngish teens have outgrown and haven‘t been worn much. (Or have shrunk.) 👏🏾 My kids have always worn lots of second hand too. The idea of wanton waste is aggravating. (edited) 7mo
REPollock @Tamra I‘m a big secondhand clothing wearer too! 7mo
Tamra @REPollock 😂 I just corrected “wonton” - that made me laugh out loud 7mo
REPollock @Tamra 😂 I mean I‘m against wonton waste too! 🍜 7mo
Tamra @REPollock absolutely, in fact that might be the worst kind of waste 🤣 7mo

I think the way that this book tells the story of Levi's is a great way for younger kids. It is funny, inviting, cool graphics, and sets the tone in a kid friendly way.

This tells the story of Levi Strauss and how he created his brand. It is a bit fabricated, but still a good read. They walk us through the events leading up to and through the creation of the jeans.
