I have a job interview tomorrow at my local library (Woo Hoo!). I'm slightly nervous, because I haven't had a proper job interview in over ten years. Any advice, tips, words of encouragement?

Captivatedbybooks The worse that can happen is you dont get it so literally shake yourself off before walking in the doors and be yourself. Focus on your love for books and reading and show them why THEY NEED YOU. 😉 good luck mama your in my prayers 6y

MarriedtoMrT I‘m not sure about your library system but as a hiring manager for an urban branch someone who says they love reading and think libraries are calm and relaxing is a death knell. I want someone who is flexible, willing to take on lots of different tasks even if some may be boring, and above all someone who is looking to help people, especially those who are under privileged. A reader is great but libraries juggle so much more nowadays! Good luck! 6y

ohyeahthatgirl I have an interview at my library for a promotion tomorrow! Remember that libraries are community hubs and deliver way more than tree-books. Know what kind of programs & services they offer and stress how you can serve a diverse community with your talent. Know how you'd deal with a problem patron. Good luck! 6y

Billypar I've been on both sides of the interview process lately- I would say, know when to stop talking and if you fumble, don't worry too much- they know you'll be a little nervous and not to judge you on that front. Aim to finish each response strong with a confident last sentence. You'll do great! 😎👍 6y

Another “you‘re a great candidate, but” interview. My limited availability is the problem. This pic is how I feel now. I was far more annoyed than anxious by the time my interview started. I had to wait 30-35 minutes before the guy came to get me for the interview. He did say that if they had something in another part of the store they would call. I‘m not holding my breath. Thank you for all the positivity and thoughts, I appreciated them. 🤗

DGRachel Job interviews are so tough. I‘m fortunate to have a decent job, so rarely do I even take calls from headhunters, but the two times I‘ve interviewed in the last three or so years, I‘ve been sick to my stomach (and obviously was not the”right” candidate as I‘ve been at my current job for a decade). {{hugs}} 6y

Ddzmini I know what you mean I‘m in an in-between area where it‘s hard to travel to L.A. or San Diego which is where my jobs would be available but any part time work here is word of mouth and I just don‘t stay in the area enough so no go 😳 my hubby said concentrate on college but I would like to have some extra income to help it‘s just not working out so frustrating sending good vibes and prayers your way 😋 6y

Guys, I'm getting ready for my first job interview in 12 years! (Because I worked at one job for ages, and then I've been a SAHM for 5 years.) I'm not even sure that I will take this job if it gets offered to me, because I'm not sure if the childcare is gonna work out, but I'm still SO NERVOUS. Eeek. Smangela Like you said, every interview is good practice :) have confidence - if you've been a SAHM for 5 years you've learned a lot that can only help you in a career (patience, negotiation, the art of convincing someone, creativity, ability to persevere without sleep...) so you've got it! 7y
