Walden | Henry David Thoreau
post image

I‘m trying really hard to stay interested in my Serial read for this month, but I keep falling behind.

Can someone please confirm that Thoreau will eventually stop being a sanctimonious bore and blow my mind or something?

🙄😂

Caterina I ended up finding this worth the read, but I wish a good editor had cut it down to half the length or less. You get the great, the boring, and the bad all mixed together. 🙄 5y
Kimberlone He never stops being sanctimonious but I can promise you there are gems throughout. I think reading using the @SerialReader is a great way of getting through Walden (edited) 5y
The_Real_Nani I kind of get what he‘s saying though! Some books may not resonate until you‘re in a certain season of your life. But calling readers dull? Can we say #intellectualsnob? lol 5y
Theaelizabet The annotated version is REALLY helpful. I‘m not sure I could have made it through, otherwise. 5y
sprainedbrain @The_Real_Nani This comes after a thrilling passage when he states that unless we‘ve read the classics in their original languages we haven‘t read them, and the greatest poems can only be really read and understood by the greatest poets. 🙄 5y
