I am overwhelmed with ideas and do not want to go in too many directions- so am trying to get a list of 6 books that reflect quality writing from diverse sources for American Literature. Thanks for any help you offer! #raisingreaders #nextgeneration #ownvoices #homeschoolhighschool

Ms.Story Not sure about what age group or parameters you're looking for but this might be worth a look 5y

Ms.Story For mature readers, one of my top pics is 5y
Ms.Story Short & accessible with lots of techniques to analyse: 5y
Chrissyreadit @Ms.Story thank you!So many options- we have read The Absolutely True Diary and To Kill A Mockingbird (my son‘s middle name is Atticus) and The Giver- but I think I love The Invisible Man and Ethan Frome recommendations! Thank you so much! They are in High School and skilled readers. 5y
Chrissyreadit @4thhouseontheleft I love your choices! I worry I am not providing diversity with typical canon and not being rigorous enough but Night and Their Eyes Were Watching God are rigorous- and Funny In Farsi sounds like a great option. I will look at House On Mango Street too- I think I have it but have not read it. 5y
IamIamIam I have this on my TBR 5y
IamIamIam A different perspective 5y
IamIamIam I got through half of this but I'm not sure if it's good for HS 5y
IamIamIam Not an easy read but definitely hits in a place I didn't expect, especially since it takes place fairly recently and is loosely based on an experience the author had. 5y
Chrissyreadit @IamIamIam thank you for great recommendations! 5y
IamIamIam @Chrissyreadit Happy to help!! You guys have read the Track series, right? Middle grade but such wonderful storytelling! 5y
