I couldn‘t put this one down once I‘d started. The themes in it and of course the story are both relevant and kept me hooked!

⭐️⭐️💫

The stunning cover grabbed my attention - the story, not so much! It felt slow and it was easy to get lost with all of the characters. 🎧

I really enjoyed this book! This is the November Read With Jenna pick and I‘m so glad I was able to read it this month. This was a book full of friendship, love, and finding yourself. It tells the story of three friends and one man and how their lives all intersect. It was such a meaningful read.

britt_brooke Such a striking cover! 5mo
NikkiKey94 @britt_brooke yes it is gorgeous! I love how this cover looked on my kindle fire! 5mo

A House in Sicily | Daphne Phelps

This is the house, Casa Cuseni, I stayed in last year when I visited Taormina, Italy. It has a very interesting history. I stayed in the room that Greta Garbo frequented. This house was the perfect place to stay, with its antiques, art and gorgeous gardens. The view of Mt Etna from our terrace was amazing! The house also has a dining room that contains a mural painted on the walls of its original owner Robert Kitson, his lover and their adopted ⬇️

Rissreads Child. Homosexuality was a crime at the time. To protect the men portrayed in the paintings, and to protect the paintings themselves because of the subject matter, the room was closed for 100 yrs and only opened in 2012. The book details the rich Sicilian lifestyle of the niece of the original owner Kitson. She became the guardian of the house and spent her lifetime preserving it. 5mo
Jeg I just read The 7 husband's of Evelyn Hugo. A fictional account of hidden gay Hollywood. So interesting to read your account of your visit. 5mo

Oh so close! I started reading this and about halfway through I was not sure I even liked the MC, Kate Moore, an ex-CIA agent, who literally becomes so sloppy that even through her suspicions doesn‘t see red flags all around. Then the suspense really amps up in the final third and the book went from a 3-star to a 5-star, but in the final pages the ending fell flat for me. I did like the book so I give it 4-stars.

Awk_Word_Smith P.S. I listened to the audiobook and found the jumps in time a bit confusing as there were multiple timelines and no audio queue indicating the jump—other than the final timeline. I can‘t say if the printed editions mark these or not. 5mo

I randomly saw this book years ago (probably more like 8-9 years ago) on a table in a bookstore. So I‘m listening to the audiobook now. Anyone else read this? Thoughts?

BarbaraBB Yes I did and I liked it much more than I expected. It‘s a decent thriller! 5mo
Awk_Word_Smith @BarbaraBB I‘m about halfway through it and I‘m not sure if I like the MC or not. I‘m hoping it was a setup and I‘ll side with her during the second half of the book. 5mo
BarbaraBB I didn‘t like the MC at all. And that can put me off but in this book it didn‘t. Which I liked! 5mo
Awk_Word_Smith @BarbaraBB well that‘s great news. I shall carry on. 5mo

Singapore is high up on my travel bucket list, so when I came across this title and read the synopsis it really intrigued me.

Wonderful debut! I recommend this book if you are looking for a read set in a fun, exotic place and with great take on women handling friendships, careers, relationships and complicated family dynamics.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Release Date: 10/31/23
