I recommend this SO much if you want to read something with a bit of insight into Africa (Mali empire specifically) before mass European colonisation. It‘s quite a literal translation so I think it would be a lot more ‘poetic‘ in the original or maybe a different translation, but it‘s a fascinating story with a lot of character and magic #blackhistorymonth

My evening plans fell through a little tonight so I‘ve come home early for some quality self-education time and potentially a bath bomb bath. A different kind of evening than I originally planned, but I‘m enjoying working hard on my black history month reading and by staying in I saved some money... which I spent on books

Crazeedi So enjoy your evening! 5y

Kicking off #blackhistorymonth with a book I‘ve been really excited to read, an epic from before Europeans colonised Africa. The penguin classics book listed exactly TWO books in the ‘medieval Africa‘ category and this is one of them.

batsy Wow! That sounds fascinating. 5y
Emilymdxn @batsy I really recommend! 5y

I‘ve kinda been reading a lot of memoirs and fluff lately so felt the need for a few epic tales.

I‘m finally getting around to finishing Wise Man‘s Fear and plan to start on Pillars of the Earth soon. I started Craeft on my lunch break at the library and had to take that home with me too.

SkeletonKey @Vertabrain - I found the paperback today for $.99 so I think I‘m going to switch out the huge library book so I can take it out with me hahaha. 6y
keys_on_fire I recently purchased World Without End and Pillars of Earth. What is the correct order to read them? 6y
