As it's finally getting wintery here in the UK, my bookish tastes have turned back to Scandi noir. I'm only 5 or 6 chapters in but I'm already gripped by Victim Without a Face. The main detective (Fabian) is an intriguing character and the set-up is great. Like all good Scandi noir the characters are flawed, there's plenty of moral ambiguity and a community with hidden secrets. It's my winter comfort reading and perfect for #brunchwithabook.

samharnold Just picked this up. Loved your review. 3y

Jaws | Peter Benchley

"You'll never go in the water again!" I've been looking forward to reading this for so long as it's one of my all-time favourite movies. I couldn't think of a better option for #brunchwithabook on a wet and windy Sunday morning. I can even hear the soundtrack as I'm reading - something I've not experienced in a book before!

Volo's Guide to Monsters | Wizards RPG Team

Today's #brunchwithabook features a bacon and egg bagel, a great Guatemalan coffee, and the limited edition of Volo's Guide to Monsters. I love this book; part monster guide, part players' guide and part lore/history. It's a great addition to the Dungeons and Dragons line-up.

manifestsanity Love the Twin Peaks mug! 3y

American Gods | Neil Gaiman

I love this book in a way that I find hard to explain. Gaiman is a genius and I've read pretty much all of his novels, non-fiction and comics/graphic novels; some are definitely better than American Gods but none have stuck in my mind like this one did. #brunchwithabook

katedensen Well said re: American Gods, but more importantly: what is that delicious looking sandwich?? 3y
[DELETED] 228742384 @katedfisher One of life's great pleasures is a leisurely, hot/cooked brunch. For the past couple of weeks I've been experimenting with different variations on bacon and egg sandwiches! 3y

Player's Handbook | Wizards RPG Team

Today's #brunchwithabook (a bacon, egg and mushroom sandwich!) features the 5th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook. Even though I no longer have a group to play with, I still love reading through the rule books and creating the occasional character. The 5th edition sees the game return to more of a 'theatre of the mind' approach. Reading these books brings back all sorts of incredible childhood memories.

Saga, Volume One | Brian K. Vaughan

Today's #brunchwithabook features the sublime #Saga by Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples. This incredible space opera never fails to entertain. The characters are so well thought out, and the individual story elements are always nothing less than gripping. Highly, highly recommended!

Another weekend and another #brunchwithabook! I'm loving dipping in and out of Neil Gaiman's latest selection of non-fiction. There's something for everyone in here.
