The Encircling Sea | Adrian Goldsworthy
Mehso-so

Some interesting new characters but I thought the climactic battle went on for a bit too long. Still, I'll carry on for completeness' sake.

The Encircling Sea | Adrian Goldsworthy

The Brigantian had stared at him for a while, the evening shadows making his long face more skulllike than usual. ‘Trying to be the hero again,‘ he said at last. ‘They always die at the end of their story.‘

‘Don‘t we all.‘

Vindex sighed. ‘Aye, we do. No sense in rushing though, especially for you these days.‘

Pickpick

Between 🤘🏻 and so-so depending on how you like graphic violence.

A really crazy story that's a bit like The Name of the Rose (with 0 Catholic monks) crossed with The Thirteenth Warrior/King Arthur (Clive Owen version). It's pretty violent, the art is super dark, but I like this idea a lot. The ending left it open for Valiant to do more with the character.

It did seem like a few panels were missing. Read for Graphic Novel group at the store.

Wonderful artwork & an intriguing notion get completely lost in the extremely rushed, uneven, and forced storytelling. It's beautifully bloody & focuses on Ancient Rome as well Druidism involving the Vestal Virgins, but the plot progression was so unsavoury & disappointing. 2 virgins outta 5.
