I am in my mid-forties: too old for blushing, I would have thought.
Mr Shelley was my first great love. That was a long time ago, now. Still, it's entirely possible I'm having a mild attack of the Claire Frasers at this point. 😯 #bookwormconfessions #readathon @DeweysReadathon

BOOKWORM CONFESSION
So I'm on a book buying ban...again 🙄 time to pick out some of the many books I haven't yet read that are already on my shelves 😅 it's really quite embarrassing how many books I own that I haven't read yet! #bookwormconfessions Doea anyone else do this?? I need some other confessions to make me feel better hehehe

Laru79 🙋🏻me too!! And there are shelves full of library books too.... 7y
DivineDiana I am guilty as charged! 7y
Emilyrjones22 You are not alone in this!!! 7y

Suet624 I have boxes still in storage, boxes in my closet, and my shelves are full. Because I have libraries close by I tend to grab books from there rather than from my shelf. 7y
Sarah83 yes I have also this problem. I don't need to buy books for the next years... So many unread books are on my shelfs. Feeling better now? 😉 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk All the time! 7y
JacqMac Me too. So many unread books. 7y
DGRachel My problem is I tell myself that I need to stop buying books for at least a couple of hours to read some of what I own and then two days later buy 2-10 books in a single trip, depending on where I go. 😭😭 7y
EvieBee Umm. 99% of mine are unread. Ouch. 7y
BookishBeth My husband made me switch to primarily ebooks years ago because of this. We were running out of room. Though I love traditional books, he now has no idea how many books I haven't read that are stashed on my kindle. 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Laru79 saaaame and they are definitely over due 🙈🙈🙈 hahaha 7y
TheLondonBookworm @DivineDiana phew! Not just me 😅 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Emilyrjones22 yaaay I feel much better - not such a bad bookworm after all! 7y
Redwritinghood Are you kidding? I have only about a million books that I own but haven't read. Seriously, I have a book buying problem. 😉 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Suet624 I do the same thing!!! And then I buy new ones 😂😂😂😂 it's an addiction for sure 7y
krismac That's me too! My husband always wants to know how many books I own that I haven't read yet. I change the subject when he starts talking about it. He suspects but doesn't really know...... but there are so many books calling my name! 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Sarah83 haha yeeeees so much aha I probably have enough books for life but that hasn't stopped me yet! And that doesn't even include library books..... 😏 7y
Bookworm54 My friend says I have a problem... the thing is if people just stopped writing awesome books while I catch up on everything, then I wouldn't have to keep buying them or be so far behind would I? 🤣 7y
TheLondonBookworm @TobeyTheScavengerMonk hahah yay! Not just me :D 7y
Sarah83 So we do have something in common. 😉 7y
TheLondonBookworm @JacqMac but will it stop us? I don't think so! 😂 7y
TheLondonBookworm @DGRachel Yes!!! The struggle is real people. I just can't help it, i see books- I buy books! 7y
TheLondonBookworm @EvieBee84 Haha that sounds about the right percentage to me! There just so pretty genuinely I think I've read three of the books in this photo 😂😂😂😂 7y
TheLondonBookworm @BookishBeth 😂😂😂 sneaky, I like it!! I have no one to hide them from but my housemates are beginning to complain about the stacks taking over the living/dining room 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto 😂😂😂 🙋🏻 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Redwritinghood You are not alone! It's an addition for sure #bookaddictsAnnonymous 7y
TheLondonBookworm @krismac haha exactly!! I don't even know how many books I own let alone how many I haven't read... I don't think counting will make me feel better 😂👍😂 keep changing the subject! 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Bookworm54 Hahahahha Exactly!!! I hadn't thought about that, it's not our fault at all- what else are we supposed to do? 😇 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Sarah83 Many things me thinks! 7y
rubyslippersreads I have so many books and ebooks I haven't read. You are not alone! 😄 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Ashley_Nicoletto 😅😅😅👍👍👍👍 7y
TheLondonBookworm @rubyslippersreads Woooo i hadn't considered the EBooks at all actually, that's another god knows how many on the pile 😂😂😂 7y
CherylDeFranceschi I probably have enough unread books to last the rest of my life. And possibly several afterlives...🙄 7y
moranadatter Yes! I just finished weeding and now have shelves of books that are on probation. If I do not read them by the end of the calendar year, I have to give them away. 7y
drokka I probably have 1000+ books on my shelves that I've not yet read. 7y
Texreader I know you are on a book buying ban. But hoping you have advice. Are you really in London? Fam will be there in July. We've been to Waterstone (it's been about 15 years-do I have the name right?) of course. But what great bookstores should we try to visit? 7y
Itchyfeetreader I have a real issue that bad days tend to drive me to a bookshop... I find them calming. But leaving empty handed is not something I have got used to!! 7y
TheLondonBookworm @CherylDeFranceschi #bookwormproblems whatever you do don't look up the statistics for how many books are published every week - genuinely made me cry because I know I'll never be able to read them all! I get a little overwhelmed sometimes hahaha 7y
TheLondonBookworm @moranadatter 😮 that's amazing- damn you're strong! I'm such a hoarder I never throw anything away even my multiple copies of Twilight 😂😂😂I am in awe of your system! 7y
TheLondonBookworm @drokka yup, and the number just keeps getting bigger I would imagine! Hehe 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Texreader Yup! Really in London :) I live in an area called Bermondsey just south of London Bridge. Waterstones is a lovely store and there are so many of them! But there are so many good store in London! Check out skoob books, Hatchards, Daunt Books (Marylebone), Gays the word, Persephone Books, Greenwich BookTime if your in the area (where I work) any shops of Charing Cross road and the big Foyles there, word on the water the list is endless! 7y
TheLondonBookworm @Itchyfeetreader I'm the same way- I think it's partly the smell 🙄 no matter where I am in the world I go into a bookstore and I feel safe like I've come home ❤️ 7y
Itchyfeetreader @Texreader - Waterstones are always great and I LOVE Daunt books. However we have amazing independent bookstores (2 have opened within of a mile of my house in the last year which is great) - try this site to see what is close to wherever you might be ... http://www.thelondonbookshopmap.org 7y
Texreader @TheLondonBookworm @Itchyfeetreader Thank you both so much! I'm saving your posts so I can make plans to visit!! Can't wait!! 7y
LauraBrook My god, I SO NEED TO DO A BOOK BUYING BAN!!!!! Today I bought 2 new hardcovers, I got 1 book in the mail and I bought 2 books yesterday. I have over 1900 physical TBRs in my house. It's too much! I so feel you! If I worked in a bookshop like you do I swear I'd never get a paycheck. Maybe you said, but how long are you on this ban? 7y
LoriSue Thanks to library book sales and the bargain rack at the book store my current to read pile is around 175 books..., and another 250 on my book..... I can't stop buying the books! I'm on a forced library boycott until I read some of the ones I own and haven't read yet.... plan to donate them when I'm done so others can enjoy too! 7y
drokka It does indeed! 🤣🤣 7y
Hooked_on_books Um, does 1000 unread books count as a problem? 😬 And I still can't get a book ban to stick. 7y
StaceyKondla I have thousands of unread books and don't feel the least bit guilty about it. I have bookshelves in every room and find the feeling of "living in a library" very comfortable and soothing. I find sparse, minimalist environments very uncomfortable and I feel very exposed and unable to relax. Every one has their thing, so if books is your thing, even unread ones, that's ok 7y
teebe I'm so bad for this. But I'm a mood reader so I have to have the books I want on hand for when I really want to read them. Otherwise, by the time I actually get the book I want I'm no longer in the mood to read it. At least, that's my excuse 😉 7y
hgrimes I am trying to figure out how to become immortal so I can finish reading the bajillions of books I claim I'm going to read someday. 7y
scripturient I'm exactly like @StaceyKondla and @teebe I have so many books I haven't read yet but still buy more. 😊 7y

My #bookishpetpeeve....when people do this shit to textbooks. Grrrrr.😡#marchintoreading #makeupyourmind

mom2bugnbee Serious question as a professor: what bothers you here? This makes me happy! 7y
8little_paws Seriously!! How can you even read with all that scribbles. Take notes in a notebook, don't just mindlessly underline. Can you tell I feel the same way? 7y
Nerdfins I do highlight my textbook for my Network+ book. I have tendonitis so constant writing or typing notes hurts after awhile, and highlighting is faster. But this is my book, not a loaned or rented one I'm selling or giving back. 7y

Leelee08 @mom2bugnbee Lol. If it was better organized and not in two different colors it would be easier to read.🤓 7y
Leelee08 @8little_paws Glad to know I'm not alone! It's just so messy and unorganized! Ugh. Lol 7y
Leelee08 @Nerdfins I completely understand that. If I did this to my book, I wouldn't resell it. 7y
TheLondonBookworm I am one of those people 😓 I apologise in behalf of the highlighters of the world #bookwormconfessions 7y
DGRachel My problem with this is whoever resold it. If it's your property, highlight and write notes to your hearts content in whatever ways work for you. However, this should never have been sold to a new person, even as "used". 7y
Leelee08 @TheLondonBookworm lol. Highlighting isn't the problem, I promise. It's the two colors and the unorganized mess of it.😂😂 7y
Leelee08 @DGRachel Exactly!! That's my problem with it.👍🏻 7y
Suet624 I agree with @DGRachel. Never should have been sold. 7y
Laura317 I considered it helping the next student out. I loved when things were underlined. Made studying easier. It never bothered me. Shrug 🤷‍♀️ 7y
Leelee08 @Suet624 Exactly!!🤓 7y
Leelee08 @Laura317 I think it would've been better if it wasn't so messy and unorganized. There doesn't seem to be any logic to it. They practically highlighted the entire page. 😂 7y
UwannaPublishme 😂👍🏻 7y
mom2bugnbee See, I thought that the two colors had a purpose. I used to highlight & write in my texts in different colors because I had a color code. I still do that in my Bible. Guess it's just different personalities! ☺ 7y
Leelee08 @mom2bugnbee It probably does have a purpose, but I sat there for about 10 minutes trying to figure out what it could be. It made me curious. I couldn't find a link in the different colors. 🤔😂 7y
booksandsympathy I always loved it when my used textbooks had highlights, underlines, and notes written in them. It usually helped me out with the class and also gave a little insight into what different professors or students thought was important. 7y
Leelee08 @booksandsympathy I WISH this person had been that organized and thorough. Haha 😂 7y
booksandsympathy @Leelee08 Yeah, this particular person doesn't appear organized at all. Unless it was two different people, maybe. 7y

TheLondonBookworm @katelizabee haha aw don't! It lets me know I'm not alone in this predicament 😂😂 8y
readinginthedark This is why I use Goodreads. My son pulls my bookmarks all the time. 8y
LauraBrook I would totally cry! Tried to read this with the Serial app and I couldn't even follow with that! Oh well. Hope you can get close to where you were! 8y
KarouBlue @TheLondonBookworm Always a true story w/ Tolstoy! 8y
TheLondonBookworm @readinginthedark I use it for the books but I've never thought to put the pages up there! Good tip 👍 8y
TheLondonBookworm @LauraBrook A tear may have escaped... Haha I've found the estimated section so it's all good! 8y
quirkyreader I have read this book five times. I think twice it was for fun and the others were for courses. When I went to University 20+ years ago it was as a Russian Studies major. 8y
MrBook Ohh nooooo, lol! 8y
