Oh my gosh, what a heartbreaking story, and how lucky we are to have this first-hand account of an African man forced into slavery.

I'd highly recommend the audiobook, since the dialect I think would be difficult to read (if my experience with Their Eyes Were Watching God holds true for this).

I'd been wary of feel-good vibes based on the overly twee title, but I LOVED this. It hit all the right heartwarming notes without sugarcoating the realities of a horrific war.

Such a beautiful and honest book released on the fifth anniversary of Debbie's passing. ?It's comforting to know her wisdom can still shine through after she's gone. Debbie gives us great reminders and a few modern prayers on how to revive our inner world when life gets too damn tough to handle. "Keep reminding yourself that you are the light, the brilliance, and the beauty that you see in others." ???

DebinHawaii I have a couple of her books on my shelves. It doesn't seem like it's been five years. Such a loss. 😥💔 6y
UwannaPublishme @DebinHawaii I was surprised it was that long too. Also very intriguing how they found this book....with a little heavenly help from Debbie. 🤔 6y
