I was backing out of the garage to take my daughter to school when I remembered I didn't take a pic of a #bookilovetorecommend. So I ran back inside, snapped this pic, ran back to the car, and got her to school *just* as the bell was ringing. ?? The things I do for #17booklove!! (I'll post some more books I love to recommend later today!) This is a delightful historical fiction/romance. I always describe Heyer as "like Jane Austen, but funnier".

Leniverse Funnier than Jane Austen? Hm... I mean, Jane Austen is pretty darn funny. But I guess I might have to try this author then. 7y
howjessicareads @Leniverse Do it! This one, Frederica, and False Colours are some of my favorites. They are romances, but bodices remained unharmed. 😉 They're witty and literary. Just FYI they can be a little hard to get into the first few chapters, because she uses a ton of 19th century dialect. But once you get past the language, they're so funny. 😂 7y
Leniverse I'm not scared of the language. I'm picky about historical fiction (especially 19th century settings, as I read a fair amount of books actually written in that era), so hearing that she uses 19th century dialect (and that bodices stay unripped) is actually recommending her to me. 7y

howjessicareads @Leniverse you might love them then! I have a super hard time reading any other historical romance because the inaccuracies grate, after so many years of reading Heyer! 7y
Leniverse I may have been known to throw a book down with an exclamation of "there is no way she would be caught dead outdoors without a hat!" or "no, his speech pattern is ALL wrong!" or "no one would do that in 1830! The scandal!" ? I'll give Heyer a shot then. 7y
kspenmoll Have to try reading one- 😍 7y
howjessicareads Yay! Hope you love her as much as I do @kspenmoll & @Leniverse! 7y
