Starting this one tonight (a couple days late) for the #hugonuts buddy read. I‘ve got my book all tabbed and my bath accessories ready! And what a wonderful inscription—I love finding these in secondhand books. Although it makes me sad to wonder what happened to Debra and ...Jim? John? 😔

Leftcoastzen It‘s weird,isn‘t it? 5y
Lcsmcat I love finding things like this in second hand books! And I make up stories about them. We could say that later, in the 90‘s, they combined their libraries and kept his copy. Or she loved the book but after she broke up with J she had to get rid of that copy and buy a new one that didn‘t remind her of him. 5y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘m wondering what he means by “The path widens”? 5y

BarbaraJean @Leftcoastzen I always find it puzzling/sad that someone would get rid of a book with an inscription like this! @Lcsmcat I like story # 1, but have a feeling that story # 2 is most likely. 😕 @JanuarieTimewalker13 That intrigued me, too! It‘s a lovely image. I love that there was a history of reading between these two people. 5y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Yes, so interesting. That‘s almost 30 years ago, and they may have been middle aged at that point, so my take on it is Debra might not be alive. Someone cleaned out her house, and not looking inside the book, passed it on. #blamestephenking lol...I‘m in creepy mode. (edited) 5y
suvata Wow! What a find. Somebody could write a book from that note alone. So many possibilities to consider. 5y
