#ankylosingspondylitis

“Most healthy people have a seemingly infinite number of spoons at their disposal, each one representing the #energy needed to do a task...if you are young and healthy you still have spoons left over...But if you are sick or in pain, your exhaustion changes you and the number of spoons you have. Autoimmune disease or chronic pain...cuts down on your spoons. Depression or anxiety takes away even more." #QuotsyJan19

EastWind76 Good quote! As a Spoonie myself, I appreciate seeing more understanding of spoon theory. ❤ 5y
JSW I talk about spoon theory all the time! As a person who struggles with anxiety, it‘s such a good description. 5y
Leftcoastzen This was a great book, and I think I liked the spoon theory part the best! 5y

BookwormM @EastWind76 I am a spoonie as well only diagnosed with #ankylosingspondylitis in 2017 I have wandered for ages where spoonie actually came from and what it means 5y
EastWind76 @BookwormM ouch!! I was diagnosed with Ehlers-danlos Syndrome and dysautonomia in 2018, and as much as it sucks, the diagnosis made everything else make so much more sense! Spoon theory has actually helped me to be so much more effective in my life, because I'm prioritizing better. #hugs to you, fellow spoonie! ❤ 5y
TK-421 @EastWind76 @JSW @Leftcoastzen @BookwormM I hadn heard of Spoon Theory until I read this book; it's such a great analogy! I'm a shy introvert with sza-bp & anxiety so it doesn't take much social interaction to wear me out. When I use Spoon Theory to explain why "I just can't people today" it helps friends understand I don't hate them, I'm just exhausted, that mental pain is just as bad as physical pain. Hugs to all of you, Spoonies! ❤️ 5y
BookwormM @EastWind76 @TK-421 sorry to hear you are suffering as well hugs 🤗 to you both. Spoonies unite 💕💕 5y
LiterRohde Love that analogy. 5y
