Frog Music: A Novel | Emma Donoghue
post image
Pickpick

I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting this amazing book via audiobook. I wish that every book was an Emma Donoghue queer historical fiction (I've made this comment before)! This book evokes San Francisco is 1876 in a very vivid and engaging way. Blanche, a sex worker, meets Jenny, a frog catcher, who is continually being arrested for dressing "as a man". Jenny asks a few pointed questions which calls Blanche's whole life into question. Hijinks ensue. ❤

queerbookreader Does this author write all her books with queer romance? I've heard of her but don't know shit about her writings 7y
queerbookreader Sorry for all the comments I'm just high key flipping out over this 7y
BookMusings @lemonlime799 you might want to look at Sarah Walters' books. Historical fiction. 7y
Bibliogeekery @lemonlime799 Haha! No worries. I totally understand enthusiasm for #queerbooks. Totally my jam! Emma Donoghue is a lesbian and some (but not all) of her fiction features queer storylines. The Sealed Letter and Lifemask are two more of her historical fiction books with queer storylines. All her short story collections have some queer stories and Stirfry and Landing (contemporary) are also queer stories. 7y
Bibliogeekery @lemonlime799 there's an extensive list on Goodreads under "popular lesbian fiction" that has tons and tons of great w/w stuff from different genres listed. 7y
batsy I really like Emma Donoghue! Slammerkin is still a standout for me. I haven't read this one, for some reason it didn't grab me (the cover and title made me think this might be a bit too cutesy for my liking), but your review has convinced me to give it a go ☺️ 7y
Bibliogeekery @batsy slammerkin is my eternal favourite! It's so good! Frog Music is pretty great too! 7y
readinginthedark I'm with @batsy --I keep seeing comments about how good this is, but your review sold me on it! 7y
