Pickpick

This book is full of stories that may become more common in 2020 or 2021. People who pare life down to a mobile home or vehicle are called houseless. Not homeless, in their estimation. But without brick and mortar places of residence. It started with retirees. But I fear our “American Dream” is forcing more people into this lifestyle.

JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh sounds great!! I follow a lot of the van lifers on YT. Fascinating. Some people even live in minivans that they convert. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @JanuarieTimewalker13 It is good! Now if I go over to YT for videos, I may get lost and not come out for days ... 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Hahaha!! True!! 4y

TheBookHippie I follow a ton of these by choice folks for the past years as it is also my plan in 5 years. As for the not by choice I‘ve been bringing bread and books to “camps” during summers for workers who work field here and we are all wondering how we can get the place occupancy year round and jobs and all other ideas .. so it was very interesting to get this in my inbox today. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @TheBookHippie All of this is so cool! I‘m excited you want to do this. And impressed—but not surprised—that you‘re helping those you can. 4y
TheBookHippie @BarbaraTheBibliophage Also why I yell at news daily ... we have huge migrant camps here and the last four years have been brutal to say the least. (edited) 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @TheBookHippie I can only imagine ... 4y
Crazeedi @BarbaraTheBibliophage I watched a special about a girl who decided to live in something like this and travel. She actually started out in her van! 4y
Crazeedi @BarbaraTheBibliophage and I think shes now making a living blogging about her life! 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Crazeedi I‘ve seen some shows like that also. I don‘t know how people make enough just by blogging ... but people do, I think. 4y
Crazeedi @BarbaraTheBibliophage yes, I dont know how that's possible! But I guess with enough sponsors 4y
Suet624 I loved this book. It wasn‘t the “living in the RV” that got me though. It was the section on Amazon that I have been talking about ever since I read it. Just an awful company. (edited) 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Suet624 I agree. I buy way more from them than I‘m comfortable with. Especially since the pandemic. 4y
Suet624 Haha. I just had to fix my typo. I can‘t remember he last time I ordered from amazon. I just won‘t do it. Sometimes I go in to see what company they might be using and then order directly through that smaller company. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Suet624 The typo was funny though! Yes, I try to do that as much as I can also. Company profit margins are so low as it is, but Amazon gives them a platform to be seen that‘s expensive. It‘s a tough call for them. 4y
