This was fascinating and insightful. I loved the narrator as well. The chapters about clothing, makeup and hysteria were the most interesting to me. This book challenges what we think about the lives of Victorian women based on Victorian classic literature from the likes of the Brontës and Jane Austen.

“The effects of the human species‘ intervention were already ‘incalculable‘, Humboldt insisted, and could become catastrophic if they continued to disturb the world so ‘brutally‘. Humboldt would see again and again how humankind unsettled the balance of nature.” #litsyreadingchallenge2017 #takesplaceover150yearsago

If you want to read a graphic novel based on a grand Templer conspiracy, do not read this book. If you want to read a graphic novel written and drawn by someone who loves the Templars and the legends/myths that surround them, read this book. #lrc23 #TakesPlaceOver150YearsAgo

Well this came in on hold from the library so I have broken my resolution to try to stick to one book at a time (I don't count ones I am reading with my son).
One word for this so far: grim. And visceral. Two. Two words for this so far. #litsyreadingchallenge2017 #takesplaceover150yearsago

#litsyreadingchallenge2017 has begun! For those of you who are bingo players, I plan to do a cover all. #barkskins could have easily fallen into #morethan400pages #basedonahistoricalevent and #takesplaceover150yearsago but I chose to fill the most difficult to find category of #multipleperspectives. On to the next!
