I sobbed so hard when I saw The Notebook in theaters. Then my best friend bought me the book. I still cried so much even knowing the ending.

Thanks for the chance to win! @Elle_Skeldon #SobStory

ElleSkel Sadly I could not get into the book, but I adored the movie! That never happens to me! Thanks for entering and good luck! 📚🤓📚 6y
melyndarae @Elle_Skeldon It's been about 14 years since I read it and I was 17. But I don't remember what I thought of the book honestly lol. I just remember crying in the car while reading it lol. 6y

Thank you @Elle_Skeldon for this awesome #SobStory giveaway! I really really love Jodi Picoult!

I have read a lot of books and don't really recall the first story that made me cry. But 2 stories have made me cried buckets! "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy and "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult.

ElleSkel The Road left me depressed for like a week! That one was absolutely brutal. Thanks so much for entering! I'll be choosing a winner at random layer today! 📚🤓📚 6y
ElleSkel Oh and you are very welcome! I'm just trying to #payitforward with a #giveaway ! 6y
bookworm.krizia @Elle_Skeldon and the movie for "The Road" was also so good, really depressing! Thank you again 6y

The Velveteen Rabbit | Margery Williams
post image

#Sobstory @Elle_Skeldon

The first book to make me cry was the Velveteen Rabbit. Read when I read as 8. First I thought it was so devastating that the rabbit was taken away to be destroyed because the boy had been ill. But then it was so beautiful how the rabbit transformed. I cried buckets of frustration and of joy.

ElleSkel This was definitely a book that provoked mixed emotions. Even though I read it as,a child I think it is equally as powerful as an adult. Thanks for entering! 📚🤓📚 6y

The first book that made me cry when I was young was Little Women. Beth! 💔😭
After that I only cried once or twice from a book, until I had my son, who apparently installed a waterfall behind my eyes before he came out!😆
The first book that made me cry after having him was State of Wonder—not because I loved the book (I appreciated the writing style but only cared about one character)—but because of the little boy in the story, Easter. #sobstory

mandapants Me too. First book that made me cry. And I was young when I read it. The other Harry Potter Deathly Hallows, but I think I was new baby crazy hormones crying. Only those two have caused tears. 6y
readinginthedark @mandapants I was young, too; my mom read it to me the first time. And my next crying book was a Harry Potter book, too! Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I‘ve cried more often since having my son, though. Not all the time, but whenever I get really emotional or if there‘s something difficult with kids. (edited) 6y
ElleSkel Such a great choice! Definately one of my all time favorites too! I noticed that since I had my son I cry much easier too. When I'm happy, when I'm sad...LOL makes no difference really! Thanks for entering! 📚🤓📚 6y
TheAnitaAlvarez I cry every time I read this one 6y

I remember sobbing while reading A Prayer for Owen Meany. That was also the first book that made me laugh out loud while reading. It really has it all. #sobstory @Elle_Skeldon

AmyG That‘s my pick, too. I SOBBED. 6y
rwmg Difficult to remember, but a very early one must have been "The Lord of the Rings". I howled when the Elves and the Ringbearers left Middle Earth. 6y
Melissa_J Charlotte‘s Web and Bridge to Terabithia made me ball when I first read them. 6y

JenniferJarrell Where the Red Fern Grows. Sobfest. 6y

dragondrool I believe it was Hiroshima, by John Hersey. 6y
ElleSkel I have never read that one! And laughter through tears is the best. Looks like it's one more for my TBR list! Thanks for entering!!📚🤓📚 6y
Kaye I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb. Let‘s just say I read it at a time that a lot of things were going haywire in my family . It was a difficult and challenging time. Its weird how the book seems to center strongly on family, commitments, trying to forgive and stay together rather than all falling apart. The final few pages literally had me sobbing. The most beautiful ending of any book EVER. (edited) 6y
CarolynM Seven Little Australians when I was about 10. Devastating 💔 6y

RedMudNessa Apparently when I was very young my mom read me The Little Engine That Could and when the train was struggling uphill I burst out in tears because it was so sad that the train couldn't make it. I was inconsolable and my mom couldn't finish the book or convince me it was going to be ok. 6y
dragondrool @Elle_Skeldon I don't need to be entered. You just got me thinking aloud. 😊 6y

#SobStory The first novel that made me sob was Where the Red Fern Grows. I was in sixth grade and the teacher read it to us. I didn‘t want to full out cry in class, so I checked out the book, took it home and read it again so I could let it out and cry. Dogs dying, turn me into a basketcase. @Elle_Skeldon

SALeahey I remember reading this in 4th grade and also crying my eyes out. Thankfully, many of the other girls in class also lost it, so I was not alone. 6y
APLitlife @SALeahey I have tried to get my kids to read it, but no go. My daughter knows the ending and does not want to read about that. 6y
SpiderGoddess Same!! Second grade field trip, bawled like a baby! 6y
ElleSkel Oh wow...that's a good one! Absolute tearjerker without a doubt! Thanks for entering! 📚🤓📚 6y
