panThis is the sequel to Finding Mansfield & I wish I had given it a miss. A pet peeve of mine is when an author writes a sequel that ignores their own character develop from an earlier book! In the first book, Aunt Nora (/Mrs. Norris) is a horrible person who is SO mean to Finley (/Fanny). But now I am supposed to find her empathetic & support her run for public office?? I spent the entire last book watching the relationship between Fin & Ollie ⬇️
I‘m not #sorry I received the Persephone Biannually, but I‘m sorry for what their magazine does to my #crave for new books 😅 I‘m trying to control my riges by reading this not-so-light, but very sweet book, and so far, it is working 🙌

#Movember #day5 #Sorry This book is one big “Sorry” to the memories of the women killed by Jack The Ripper. For the last 100+yrs they‘ve been called prostitutes, fallen women, drunks etc. They‘re seen only in the last hours of their life, remembered for what was done TO them, not for who they were. This book tries to remedy that, tells of their lives as wives & mothers, struggling to feed their families, living within terrible means.
DAY 5 #Sorry | I‘m *not* sorry that this is the last soccer practice of the season. It‘s dark and chilly and I‘m over it. At least I have my book blanket and reading material. Loving this reread! ⚽️🥶🧤

Split between two women, this brings together a veteran and a convicted felon, and the dog that brings them together -plus an almost mythic dog!
