Visited 7 more states in June. I've pretty much given up on reading Europe but #ReadtheUSA2020 is going strong!! Sitting at 26 states so right on track!!

@Andrew65

UwannaPublishme Wow! You‘re making great progress. I‘ll have to send you The Lager Queen of Minnesota for your Midwest section. 4y
Catherine_Willoughby Reading Europe a tag? #ReadingEurope2020 ? This looks exciting 4y
TheAromaofBooks @UwannaPublishme - I've never read that - is it funny? I'm into funny books right now haha 4y

TheAromaofBooks @Catherine_Willoughby - yes, the Europe tag is #ReadingEurope2020 & it's being hosted by the same ladies who hosted #ReadingtheUSA2019. The 2020 USA is just a couple of us who missed it last year & are doing it for fun - no official host. Europe is being hosted by @LibraryBelle and @BarbaraBB, but since I've only read 6 countries, I don't think I'm going to accomplish that challenge this year haha 4y
BarbaraBB @Catherine_Willoughby You are very welcome to join us! 4y
Librarybelle Yes, @Catherine_Willoughby , you are very welcome to join us! If you search #ReadingEurope2020 , you‘ll see so many great book suggestions for the different countries. 4y
Catherine_Willoughby Will check it out . 4y
UwannaPublishme @TheAromaofBooks I‘d say it‘s uplifting. But I‘m with you. Humor books are the best reads right now for me too. 4y

Here are my reading goals for next year.

Poll Ballot Tag is basically #readingtheusa2019 but the book has to be shelved with the exact tag on Goodreads. If you see me on Goodreads writing about Jade Dragons you know now why! We're up against Readers of the Purple Sage.

And it looks like my post has been cut off, but it hasn't!

#bookreport

Just started the tagged book, which was on my #weeklyforecast last week - this is for #nfnov and for #idaho on #readingtheUSA2019.

Still ploughing through Ducks, Newburyport, over 900 pages in now, so maybe won‘t have to include that on tomorrow‘s forecast! 😁

25% into The Romanovs for #nfnov #buddyread with @Caroline2 - sorry Caroline that I haven‘t posted much about it!

Also read Sandi Toksvig that wasn‘t on my list; a good week!

Tamra The tagged title sounds really good! Thank you for posting. I don‘t know how you juggle multiple reads, I‘m envious. 4y
Caroline2 No worries, I‘m only page 15! 😆 I‘m hoping to get some more done tomorrow. I‘ve got way too many books on the go at the mo. But I kinda like having different options depending on my mood. 😉 4y
Cinfhen Tagged book sounds really interesting. How many more states do u have left??? 4y
See All 20 Comments
squirrelbrain I usually only have two on the go @Tamra - one at home and one on the #commutingKindle, but occasionally it gets out of hand! 😁 4y
squirrelbrain @caroline2 - I found it a bit dry at first, particularly the prologue, but it picks up and is now very interesting.... 4y
squirrelbrain @Cinfhen - after Idaho, I have 4 more. Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina. I think I might just do it! 😁🤞 4y
Cinfhen Woohoo!!!! 4 is really the finish line! Do you have all your books lined up??? Are you almost done @BarbaraBB ?? 4y
squirrelbrain I have one for Montana, and will probably read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as it‘s on Libby. The other two I‘m still not quite sure on - I have options but not loving any of them... @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB 4y
squirrelbrain Although just looked up the New Hampshire # on here and realised I have this on my TBR shelf - yay! Thanks @Cinfhen for prompting me to do that! 🤣 4y
Cinfhen I was going to suggest Owen!!!! Not sure I have any ideas for South Carolina 🤔 4y
Hooked_on_books I actually haven‘t read it yet, but I think you could use Underground Railroad for SC. 4y
Hooked_on_books Also this one is good: 4y
squirrelbrain I‘ve read both of those already @Hooked_on_books but thanks for suggesting... SC is one state that seems to be lacking choice.... Loved 4y
BarbaraBB @Cinfhen I just started my Nevada read and then I have four more left (Montana, Missouri, Maryland and West-Virginia). I do have books for all of them now, so I think it‘s doable! 💪🏼Helen have you checked out 4y
Cinfhen Impressive @BarbaraBB & Helen!!! 4y
squirrelbrain Thanks @BarbaraBB - just checked that one out and they have it in the Leeds Library. I can go and get it tomorrow lunchtime! 😘 4y
BarbaraBB I have not read it but read good things about it when I was looking for a book set in SC! 4y
Caroline2 Oh good. I am enjoying it, it‘s just such a big bulky book that I can‘t really read it in the bath or at breakfast so I‘m tending to pick up other books as their easier (physically!!) to read. You‘re prob doing the better option by reading it on the kindle. 😉 👍 4y
Caroline2 I‘m on page 25 now which is apparently only 3% in!!! 🤦‍♀️ 4y
squirrelbrain Yes, I can see how it would be difficult to read in hard copy @Caroline2 - the issue with Kindle is that the family trees are difficult to see, but I think I‘m managing OK without them. 4y

Mehso-so

I didn‘t love this book. It‘s a series of dreamlike vignettes that lend a more novelistic feel than non-fiction. Indeed, one of the reviews on the back described it as a ‘metaphysical memoir‘ - I prefer a more straightforward autobiographical style.

#wil I learned a lot about rocks, birds and the polio vaccine... and also a new word, sempiternal, meaning everlasting.

#nfnov

#pennsylvania

Blaire I felt the same about this one. Had seen it recommended a lot and just didn‘t capture me the way it had others. 4y
Librarybelle Good review! 4y
rsteve388 9 pts I see you learned something. Finished this and made a post! Please use the hashtag so I know for sure next time. 4y

squirrelbrain Apologies - Which hashtag did I miss @rsteve388 ? I used #nfnov and #wil - is there another one I should be using? 4y
squirrelbrain I‘m glad it wasn‘t just me @Blaire ! 4y
Caroline2 Oh that is a good word!! 😯 4y

#weeklyforecast

You can see from the sticky-out bookmark that I‘m getting there with Ducks..... 700 pages in. Managed to renew it again at the library, which I didn‘t think I would be able to, but I still want to get through it soon.

Just started An American Childhood for #nfnov and #readingtheUSA2019, and the other two books also fit both prompts.

Will also try to start The Romanovs on Kindle for #nfnov and a #buddyread with @Caroline2

Cinfhen Woohoo 🥳 🦆🦆🦆🦆 4y
Cathythoughts Are you liking Ducks ??? Is it worth the time .... ? ( sorry for all the questions .... 4y
rockpools Wow! That‘s some chunkster! 4y

youneverarrived Almost there! I was going to ask the same as @Cathythoughts 4y
squirrelbrain @RachelO - it‘s the one with no paragraphs and about 7 full stops.... 😬 4y
squirrelbrain @Cathythoughts @youneverarrived - I am enjoying it but I think it‘s getting a little bit samey now. It‘s also not one you could read in one go - I‘ve been reading it for a month now in between other books. It also depends if you relate to the MC - I think I do as she‘s rather anxious, has weird dreams and the whole book is her talking to herself, trying to convince herself everything is fine. I know some people have found her really irritating 😁 4y
Caroline2 It‘s exciting this #nfnov lark isn‘t it! I‘m loving it so far but I‘m already feeling the pressure to read all my non fiction books right now!!! 😆 I have 3 on the go at the mo and I‘m starting to feel like I have ADHD as I flit between them! 4y
youneverarrived Sounds like my type of MC actually.. thanks Helen I think I‘ll definitely give it a go now 👍 4y
squirrelbrain I know @Caroline2 - it‘s a great push to make us read books that have been languishing for a while... although I seem to be mainly going for the newer ones.... 🤔 4y
Caroline2 I know what you mean, I am desperately trying to read my older books but the new ones are soooo tempting!!! 😆 4y
