Mehso-so

Great concept- messy, execution. Wanted so much more than I got here, which is disappointing although I shouldn‘t have been surprised based on reviews I‘d read in advance.

Not loving this book, am loving this quote, perhaps because I‘m nostalgic for the classroom

Into the Drowning Deep is my favorite book. I‘ve never read the prequel, so I finally got it and devoured it in one sitting. I‘m glad I read ITDD before RITD, since the prequel gives away the twists. It‘s heartbreaking to read, and so so good, but I would definitely recommend reading AFTER Into the Drowning Deep.

The sequel to In the Rolling Deep, but this also works fine as a standalone. Mermaids. Or sirens. You don't want to meet them. I can't stress this enough. But again, people are going in search of them.

First off, this book is tiny small. Only disappointment is in length 22pages not giving time to really feel it. Picked up because it‘s challenged in my library.
So, it is a beautifully colored book about a boy, Julian, who lives mermaids. He aspires it so much he strips and uses his abuelas decorations to turn himself into one. No direct mention of trans, but a boy trying to be someone whom society generally says he can‘t be. Let boys be creative
