Journalist Chris Stewart became fascinated by explorer Ted Morde, who traveled into #Honduras in 1940 and reportedly found the fabled Ciudad Blanca. He tells Morde‘s story beside his own travels to that country to try to find what Morde found. While I enjoyed reading this, the author‘s reasoning for going to Honduras made little sense to me. Preston‘s Lost City of the Monkey God is much better.

Librarybelle I checked out Preston‘s book from the library - looking forward to reading it! 9mo
BarbaraBB That‘s too bad. It does sound good 9mo

Absolutely love this series and really enjoyed the new characters and story in this latest volume. I took the dogs to the park for a cold 30 minutes but it seems to have calmed and worn them out a bit. #dogsoflitsy #litsyatoz #graphicnovel

Completed my collection! The Delilah Dirk series is such a fun romp through beautifully illustrated lands. I like Delilah‘s costume re-design in this latest one a lot.

phantomx I enjoyed reading "This One Summer", it felt very realistic 6y

Look what came today!!!! I‘m so ready!! Even for people who don‘t read comics, I recommend this series. Think Indiana Jones but female set in 1800s Turkey. She. Is. The. Best. #bookhaul

The reason I moved this book up my #TBRPile was because of the news that lost Mayan cities had been found using the fairly new archaeological technique of Lidar.

Using the Lidar, archaeologists were able to map out areas which from the sky (and the ground) looks like a sea of jungle, to see the structures that lie beneath.

The breadth of Mayan civilisations has been found to be astounding, so who is to say there aren‘t more #LostCities?👇🏻

Bookworm54 The documentary on the use of Lidar technology in the Mayan archaeological finds, is on channel 4 called ‘Lost Cities of the Maya: Revealed‘. There was also one on Egypt a while ago. This find shows that large populations of humans are able to survive and thrive in these environments and so Colonel Fawcett could have been right about the Lost City of Z! 😋 6y
