I honestly don‘t know how to review this book - loved the use of Chinese & Malaysian mythology juxtaposed with Taylor Swift playing on the radio but felt like I was missing some information (like accidentally reading a sequel first - but I didn‘t) but the overall vibe was great - and I‘m interested in seeing if Rupert manages to pay off his debts.

A thousand traumas you say…

So far my decision to borrow whatever Libby had by Cassandra Khaw is going marvellously.

Apparently October for #Roll100 is going to very mysterious!

All 3 books picked are mysteries.

This was a weak pick for me. I liked the story but it was a bit over-the-top. Well, how else could you describe a noir mystery featuring Lovecraftian monsters and a chef who specializes in human flesh?

Anxious to get rid of Inspector Singh and his unconventional methods, Singapore's police force send him to KL to protect the interests of a Singaporean former supermodel on trial for the murder of her abusive Malaysian husband. She is released when her brother-in-law confesses to the murder. But the Inspector is convinced that neither of them did it. So who did?

Some satisfactory twists and turns as a SE Asian Colombo goes about his work.

Mehso-so

Was not at all impressed with the mystery or drawn in by the characters, but I did appreciate the setting in Malaysia and learning more about the dual court system there.
