#WinterWonderland Kate Bush might have #50WordsForSnow but I can only add שלג (Sheleg) in Hebrew means snow ❄️ and קרח (Kereck) means ice. #EveryDayIsALearningDay 💜🤓 right @KarenUK ??!?!

Megabooks Learn something new everyday! 5y
Kalalalatja The Danish word for snow is “sne” 👍❄️🌨 5y
Cinfhen Thanks @Kalalalatja let‘s see how many languages we get today!!!! Yup @Megabooks #ImALitsyLearner ❤️ 5y

Ms_T In some northern counties of England it‘s pronounced snur 😂 (edited) 5y
Cathythoughts Very good ! I love it @Ms_T ( love your Christmas pic too 🌲♥️) 5y
Ms_T @Cathythoughts Hehe! Thank you 😂😂 5y
Cinfhen Thanks for adding to my multiple languages @Ms_T and I agree, your photo is 🙌🏻💕😘 5y
Ms_T @Cinfhen Aww, thank you 😘 5y
TrishB @Ms_T I shall be saying snur all day!! Great pic 😘 5y
TrishB @Cinfhen be great if we got to 50! 5y
Ms_T @TrishB Yep, me too! (Thank you 😘) 5y
Cinfhen It would @TrishB 🙌🏻 I‘ll need to think of all my bilingual Littens to see how many variations of snow we can get!!! There‘s @sisilia @BarbaraBB @julesG @CoffeeAndABook @Simona @ephemeralwaltz @Reggie @Violetta who‘s French?!?!! 5y
Violetta @Cinfhen I can give you a Russian 'снег' (pronounced 'sneg') ❄️❄️❄️ 5y
sisilia In Indonesian, snow is “salju” and ice is “es” 😸 @Cinfhen 5y
julesG @sisilia Need to ask, do you get snow in South-East Asia? 5y
Cinfhen Thanks @sisilia @Violetta 🙏🏻☃️ 5y
Cinfhen @julesG what‘s the German word for snow??? 5y
julesG German is "Schnee", long e-sound that is hard to do right for English speaking people since they don't have this phoneme in their mother tongue. 5y
julesG @LittleBug - Dutch word for snow? 5y
Cinfhen I‘m waiting for @BarbaraBB to answer but @Kalalalatja gave me the Danish word “Sne” similar to German 5y
TrishB @catsuit_mango is French 💕 word for snow? 5y
LittleBug @julesG in Dutch it‘s ‘sneeuw‘😊Similar to snow, bit with the same long ‘e‘ as in German😊 5y
LittleBug Oh and we have a local dialect in The Netherlands that calls it ‘schnie‘🤩 This one is similar to the German one but with a short version of the ‘e‘ in the English ‘he‘ or ‘she‘🤓 5y
Velvetfur I'm Welsh and Irish, with some Spanish &.Italian on my Dad's side, so he's my snow words: eira (Welsh), sneachta (Irish), nieve (Spanish), neve (Italian). I do know it in French too but I'm not going to steal a French-speaker's moment! P.S. I Googled the Welsh and Irish ones! 5y
Velvetfur @TrishB the above comment was for your attention too 😁 5y
KarenUK 👍😂Every day‘s a School day 5y
CouronneDhiver Oui, je parle français! The word is “neige” 5y
Cinfhen Thanks, Merci, Toda, Gracias, Grazie, Danke, Spasiba, tak to all you smarty pants!!! @CouronneDhiver @Velvetfur ( 🙌🏻) @LittleBug 😉❣️ 5y
BarbaraBB Dutch = sneeuw and I can add Spanish: nieve ❄️❄️ 5y
Lindy My Slovak is rudimentary, but I can say sneh. ❄️ 5y
sisilia @julesG Sadly, we don‘t have four seasons here... only dry and rainy seasons 🙃 5y
Cinfhen Thanks for adding to the list @Lindy @BarbaraBB 🤗🤗🤗 5y
julesG @sisilia But there is a word for snow. 💙 5y
Simona Sneg = snow, led = ice and sneži = snowing in Slovenian language. In Croatian: snjeg = snow, led = ice and snježi = snowing. 5y
Cinfhen My niece is in Croatia right now!! She‘s there competing in figure skating ⛸How do you say that in Croatian @Simona ??? 5y
Simona Figure skating = umjetničko klizanje, niece = nećakinja, competing = natjecanje. Moja nećakinja je tamo i natjeće se u umetničkom klizanju. Good luck to her 🤞🤞🤞Is she in Zagreb? 5y
Cinfhen Yes!! @Simona she skates tonight for the first time in 9 months!! She skates pairs and they are both coming off of injuries that kept them from competing/ skating!!! She‘s anxious and so are we 🤞🏼🤞🏼 (edited) 5y
Simona Ooh, that must be so stressful for them! I hope that everything will be perfect❣️ 5y
Cinfhen Thanks so much @Simona Hope you‘re doing ok! I‘m sure holiday time is difficult without your dad 💔 5y
Simona Holiday season isn‘t helpful, but I‘m living day by day, trying/learning how to be okay ... 5y
Cinfhen Sending love @Simona 5y
Simona Thank you very much, Cindy 🙏♥️ 5y
CoffeeAndABook Joining the discussion pretty late 🤷🏼‍♀️ but since the German version is already covered I can offer up the Nepali word: Hium with the m just barely spoken. Hope that‘ll get you up to fifty!!! Kathmandu🇳🇵happens to be my birth town 😉 I was two when my parents left (that‘s where they met & married in the 70s) but I‘ve been back many times & know some Nepali. And SNOW is an important word to know in the mountains 🏔 ❄️ 5y
CoffeeAndABook I‘m so sorry @Simona & @Cinfhen for butting into this sensitive conversation with my comment!! I had started it way back, got interrupted and the app didn‘t load any of your conversation until I finished writing & sent it off. Sending my Litsy love to both of you 💓 5y
TrishB This is a fab set of posts 😘 @Velvetfur thanks! 5y
LeahBergen Okay, I see French was already covered so I‘ll offer up two Blackfoot (the First Nations/ indigenous people from my part of Canada 🇨🇦) words for snow. “Koonssko” = snow and “Immiko” = deep snow. Cool, huh? 😄 5y
catsuit_mango Sorry I'm late to the party, yes snow is neige in French ;) 5y
Cinfhen Tres cool @LeahBergen and danke @CoffeeAndABook that‘s pretty fascinating about your birthplace 😊Don‘t know if we‘ll hit 50 but maybe 25 😂😂 merci @catsuit_mango 🙏🏻🥶 5y
ephemeralwaltz Oh this is so much fun! I can offer Catalan - "neu" is Snow and "gel" is ice!!! ??❄️ 5y
