Very much a product of its time, an intrepid Nicola stumbles across a mystery just can't resist getting involved. Fans of Agatha Christie's stand alones will enjoy this. Also, it wasn't written as YA, but I'm consider it YA.

Perfection. Loved this book as a 9 year old and love it still. She captures so well the awkwardness of starting puberty, middle school social interactions, and the way girls talk. I think this is the cover of the edition I had as a kid. #tweenbooks #classicya

AmandaL I made my best friend read it and just tell me the good parts. I remember sitting in our elementary school library and being scandalized as she told me about the bust chant. 😂 3y
