And now I am an Austen completist. I enjoyed this more than I expected to. Austen's comic skill is on full display. Some parts dragged (the ending chapters in particular). And many of the characters are quite annoying, including Emma herself at times. But everyone means well and most of them seem to grow, and though this is not my favorite of Austen's novels by any stretch, it was a very pleasant read.

DAB Thanks for letting me know. I probably wont get there, I keep getting distracted by adaptations. But I am loving all things Jane Austen. 3y

batsy Yay! #AustenCompletist 🎉😁 I find this novel quite hard to take at times, out of all the books she's written, and it's because of Emma's character... Will be interesting to see how I feel these days when we tackle this for #pemberlittens 3y

readordierachel @batsy ❤? I feel like I had much more compassion for some of Emma's misguided views and flaws than I would've had if I was younger. I just wanted to take her aside and say "Girl..." ?. Looking forward to your thoughts when you read it again! 3y

readordierachel @vivastory Persuasion, followed very closely by Northanger Abbey. I just think the latter is so clever and funny. And I like the MCs and the love story in the former. Do you have a favorite? 3y
vivastory I've only read Northanger & Emma. Between the two I def prefer Northanger. I agree with you about it being funny, plus it has one of the most spirited defenses of novel reading I have come across. I am planning on reading another Austen soon, so I will def keep Persuasion in mind!
