Friday sees the start of the May Day Special #20in4 Readathon.

What better way to round off April‘s reading & make a great start on May‘s reading. Either aim to read 20 chapters, 20 hours or any other number you want to set yourself, or even set your own goal which fits in with your plans over this weekend.

Hope May will herald a better month than April for me and everyone else. April has been ‘interesting‘ and struggled to read consistently.

MaGoose I'll join in. I haven't read consistently during April, either. I need to get back into it during May. I have a stack of books that's about to topple over that I promised to read and review on my blog. I'll be starting out with Solomon's Concubine by S. A. Jewell. And try to finish Book Collecting Now: The Value of Print in a Digital Age by Matthew Budman. 2y
Andrew65 @MaGoose It‘ll be great to have you with us. Hopefully May will be a better reading month for us both. 2y
Bookwormjillk Hope you‘re feeling better @Andrew65 April was slow for me too. I‘m in for this weekend. My work book club has committed to reading an entire book between Saturday and Sunday. Before that though I need to finish my #LMPBC book. My goal is 20 hours! 2y
Lizpixie I‘ll give it a go. April has been my worst reading month in years, pretty much since I joined Litsy! Bloody brain fog from bloody covid. I think the aftermath is worse than the actual onset, in my experience anyway😵‍💫 2y
Andrew65 @Lizpixie Think April has been my worst reading month for a long time, along with when I had COvID last September. Found it took me a good six months to get fully over COvID. Had to rely on a lot of audiobooks at the time. Take it slowly and carefully, improvements do come. 2y
Andrew65 @Bookwormjillk Thanks had to deal with a lot in April, leaving my job and profession (and semi-retiring), my now confirmed Crohn‘s Disease diagnosis and going on steroids, and a bad sinus infection which at times made it very painful to even move my head. Good luck with the Readathon. 2y
BarkingMadRead I‘m definitely in, but I‘ll have to think about my goals. I‘m doing a peloton challenge on the weekend that will take up about 8 hours! 2y
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 I'm put on steroids when my crohn's flares up - be careful as when I have them it affects my blood sugars. I'm diabetic so it's a bit of a vicious circle for me! 2y
TheBookHippie My entire family and extended family have had influenza I‘ve so far escaped if!!! I was just officially diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, am now at school 8-12 only and I agree with @jenniferw88 steroids make my blood sugar climb as well as put extra weight on me. I hope with diagnosis you get the care you need. Wishing you well! I‘ll be catching up all weekend! So behind in my reading!!!! 2y
CocoReads M in although I have tons of things happening this weekend. But I‘ve struggled to read this month. The ups and downs of the bipolar weather have sent my sinuses into overdrive resulting in near constant headaches, the dr cut my diabetes meds in half to help my gut issues but it‘s made it harder to control my sugar so it‘s been rough. 2y
Librarybelle Wishing you a much better May! 2y
Elizabeth2 I‘m so relieved that you‘re feeling better. Hopefully, that trend continues! I‘m away with girlfriends this weekend, so my reading time will be limited. But, I‘m looking forward to getting away for a couple of days! 2y
julesG Glad you're feeling better. I'm definitely in. 2y
Cinfhen Can‘t believe it‘s May!! I‘m sorry to hear you‘re dealing with health issues 😔 2y
OriginalCyn620 I‘m in! I hope May is a better month for you! 💕 2y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm in! Sounds like April was a bust all around. I want to finish 2 in progress to close out the month with a mere 7 books read. It's baseball season & the Mets have actually been fun to watch. Work is getting busier, which is a good problem to have, but longer days mean less reading. I may begin today since I lose time on the weekends. I'm glad you're diagnosed so you can get on with managing your symptoms. Wishing everyone a better May 2y
ravenlee I‘m in for however much I can manage. The past six weeks have been really busy, along with everybody needing something from me all the time! It‘s felt like every time I sit down with a book recently, I get a couple paragraphs in, and then somebody absolutely positively needs me to do/get something right that minute! Makes it hard to get anywhere. 2y
AmyG I hope May is a better month for you. I am going to pass on this weeked. I am getting my covid booster shot and will probably feel crappy all weeknd. 2y
PageShifter I'll join. I got covid two weeks ago and even though it wasn't that bad for me but it still makes me so tired. Let's do this ✌️ 2y
Andrew65 @BarkingMadRun Good luck with the Peloton Challenge.😊 (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @jenniferw88 Thanks for that warning. Had one month at highest dose, now on month 2 of a three month programme at a reduced rate (9 mg last month 6 mg this month). Currently being assessed for a drug for the Crohn‘s. The steroids do seem to have increased my blood pressure. 2y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie I can relate to being behind with the reading. Hope you are getting the support you need for the Rheumatoid Arthritis and keep away from that flu! Thanks 😊 2y
Andrew65 @CocoReads Can thoroughly sympathise at the moment. Had a really bad bout of headaches linked to sinuses, as has my wife. Hope things improve for you. 😊 (edited) 2y
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 you're not on such a high dose as when I'm put on them (30mg for week 1, then reduce by 5 each week), so 🤞 it shouldn't be such a problem for you. 2y
Andrew65 @jenniferw88 That is a much higher dosage. I hope you are doing okay at the moment. Very much all new to me at the moment. 2y
Andrew65 @Librarybelle Thanks, hope you have a good May too.😊 (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @Elizabeth2 Have a great time away and thanks.😊 (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @julesG Thanks, and great to hear. 😊 2y
Andrew65 @Cinfhen I know, where has the first 4 months gone? Thanks, hopefully things will improve.😊 (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @OriginalCyn620 Thanks, and great to hear. 😊 2y
Andrew65 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Thanks, sounds like your life is very busy! Good luck with the Readathon 😊 2y
Andrew65 @ravenlee Sounds very hectic, hope things calm down for you and you manage to get some reading in.😊 (edited) 2y
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 I'm currently ok thanks - I think we've finally found a treatment that works for me, though it's very expensive for the NHS! 😂 I only have steroids when my crohn's flares up so not on them at the moment. 2y
Andrew65 @jenniferw88 We certainly pay enough for the NHS so right they should be financing this. 2y
Andrew65 @AmyG Good luck with the booster, I definitely felt crappy for 24 hours after mine last week. Fingers crossed for May. 😊 2y
Andrew65 @PageShifter Take things easy, COvID definitely has a long term effect and can take a long while to fully recover from. Good luck with the Readathon. 😊 (edited) 2y
Allylu I‘m in. The end of April snuck up on me! 2y
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 due to my ❤ transplant I was already using a lot of the NHS's money due to the anti-rejection drugs I take. And it's those same drugs that have given me Crohn's - they're one of the usual treatments for it! 😂😡 2y
Eggs 😍😍 2y
Andrew65 @jenniferw88 Sounds like you have been through the wars! Sending positive thoughts!❤️ (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @Allylu Me too, good luck 😊 2y
MoonWitch94 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 2y
DieAReader I couldn‘t agree more @Andrew65 ♥️📚 I‘m looking forward to all the fun! Count me IN!💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 2y
kezzlou85 I'm I'm. My reading has been all over the place. Awaiting on MRI results and the possibility of further surgery so hoping for the distraction. 2y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 Sorry to hear that, keeping my fingers crossed for you. Hope the Readathon serves as a good distraction. 😊 2y
Andrew65 @DieAReader Great, good luck 😊 2y
