Favorite of the month was The Raven Scholar. I am looking forward to whenever book 2 comes out.

10 before the end of the year?
How about these hardbacks staring accusingly at me from beside my sofa?
Or maybe just the 10 or more books I'm reading at the moment 😅😅

The Raven Scholar is one of my favorite reads this year. I've been eyeing this pretty Illumicrate edition and finally decided to get it.😍

Working hard on my Autumn 🍂 / Fall TBR while rewatching Gilmore Girls and trying not to think about going back to work…

Politics-driven high fantasy with all the classic tropes: royal intrigue, deep lore, and an epic tournament. Add a sacred animal companion with no patience for human nonsense and you've got me! It's tropey, it's epic, it's a ride.

I had a really good time reading this. The Raven narration felt a little odd when it came in but overall I kind of enjoyed it after a while. I enjoyed the world building and magic system. My only complaint is that the main character read a little younger than in her 30s to me.

9 books read in May. The Raven Scholar was my absolute favorite, but I also really enjoyed The Reappearance of Rachel Price and First Lie Wins.

This will be one of my favorite reads of 2025. Couldn't put it down. I was expecting the fantasy and the mystery, but wasn't prepared for the humor and banter. It was just really well written and fun. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView !
1. Most recent book purchase was the tagged book (which I really liked) along with The Floating World (also good) and Grave Empire (good so far).
2. I do enjoy reviewing books and do so either on Litsy or at my book club where I always give a rundown of what I‘ve read, recommend and why.

It‘s been forever & a day since a book so thoroughly captured my attention (which would surprise the reviewers I‘ve read who describe the pacing as very slow). A fantasy that relies on many familiar tropes, it nonetheless entertains & keeps you guessing with big reveals upending everything. I disliked the protagonist but couldn‘t get enough…best of all, I have an idea about where the story might go & it will be great if it does. Entertaining read.

April 2025 reads. Not featured is Story of a Heart (DNF). It took me all month to read Global Crisis!

Low pick.
First book in trilogy that suffers from Middle-Book-Syndrome. Could have been shorter (#audiobook was 24+ hours, I listened mainly at 2.0x); could have less POV (bit confusing and I'm saying that although the narrator did a good job); could read less YA - it's NOT YA, but the dialogue often reads like YA. Why a prologue plus some chapters from the POV of a character that doesn't play an active role in the rest of the book?

Book mail … I‘ve been waiting for this one but I‘m on pg 391 of the blade itself so it goes to the tbr pile for now 📖
