But when he doesn't return, Annalice sets out to find him -- and the secrets of the diary -- in a desperate journey that leads her through the worlds' most exciting outposts . . . and finally to the tropical islands of the South Seas, where she encounters heart-stopping peril, but also the promise of love.

#songsofsummer @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 #paradise This tattered copy has been in my library for a couple of decades - and I don‘t even remember what it‘s about! Maybe it‘s time for a re-read. Or maybe not 😛 That cover sure is something.

Crazeedi O my gosh, I read all the Victoria holt books when I was young! I loved her!! 5y

StayCurious @Crazeedi I remember liking this one too - I think that‘s the reason I‘ve kept it all these years. 5y

Day 18 - #Paradise #TheRoadToParadiseIsland #VictoriaHolt #JazzyJune

I read all of Victoria Holt‘s books in the 70‘s and 80‘s and this one was a definite favorite:
Annalice Mallory finds a cryptic diary of a long-dead ancestor that includes a map of a far-off Island with promises of riches to be found. She also finds the secrets of the diary along with a promise of love.

Victoria Holt is also Jean Plaidy and Phillipa Carr

Scochrane26 I read those as a teen but don‘t remember if I read this one. Think my sister has kept them. 5y
cobwebmoth I loved this one. 5y
KathyWheeler I thought I‘d read all of her books when I was a teenager, but I‘ve never even heard of this one. 5y
EadieB @KathyWheeler It‘s a later book published in 1985 (edited) 5y
Eggs Great choice 5y
