A Journey Down Sheepfoot Lane
A Journey Down Sheepfoot Lane | Roy Butterworth
2 posts | 1 read
A Journey Down Sheepfoot Lane follows on from the huge success of Roy's previous book, which was published in 2019, raising thousands for local cancer charity, Maggie’s Oldham.
The book is packed full of great stories from Roy’s decades of following Latics across the country, tales with his great friend Gordon Lawton and the inside track of covering games from the Press Box.
It also includes a fascinating range of historic Latics content, some of which has never been seen before, charting the club’s journey from Pine Villa through to the recent takeover.

I really enjoyed this. It's a brilliant history of the club by someone who knows it better than most, our 'fan on the inside' Roy Butterworth. The insights into how bad things were under the Lemsagams are revealing (yes, it was as bad as we thought). Nice mentions of both Push the Boundary ('the Four Musketeers') and the Boundary Park Alert System podcast. It also pays a lovely tribute to the much-missed Gordon Lawton.
