I loved this story because it is so relevant to todays societal issues. A+
This book was published in 2020. This story uses paintings to illustrate the story of a young girl who dreamt a lot. Her artistic ability was useful for standing up for what she believed in. But she did in an artistic and quiet way. The paintings are beautiful and detailed and highlight the importance of expressing oneself and creativity.
Loved the illustrations in this book and how they showed Lubaya off in her imagination.
This story does an excellent job of showing how a young girls imagination and artistic ability led her to doing something powerful and mighty despite her quite nature. In the story as Lubaya is day dreaming the images in the back are blurred showing she is off somewhere else.
“Lubaya‘s roar may not be loud, but a quiet roar can make history.”
Lubaya‘s Quiet Roar by Marilyn Nelson and painting by Philemon‘s Williamson (2020) is a fabulous picture book that uses color and line work that is bright and powerful. Lubaya might not be the first person to speak up but her pictures say a thousand words.
Lubaya‘s Quiet Roar was such a heartwarming story. The illustrations showing off her dreams and what she thinks about during the day captured it perfectly. I was immediately interested in what she was day dreaming about. It was published In 2020
