Yay! My Netgalley Shelf app is working again and someone from Netgalley responded to my email. She said that I couldn‘t sign in because of a temporary connection issue and to let them know if I still have any issues. All I had to do was complain. If I‘m having a temporary problem and it gets fixed, I say to my mom,”They fixed the problem. All I had to do was complain.” If you don‘t complain, nothing will get resolved.

I applied for the Macmillan Audio Influencer program and they rejected me and other people who applied. I‘m disappointed because I like their audiobooks but they said that everyone can apply again when they open applications later so maybe they‘ll accept me next time if I try again later.

I was on my Netgalley Shelf app on my phone looking at the 2 ARCs I have to read next and the app started giving me issues so I closed out of it thinking that would fix the problem but it didn‘t. Instead, it created a new problem. The app signed me out and now, I can‘t sign back in so I went to the website and sent my ARCs to my Kindle. I‘ve sent Netgalley an email about it. Until I can sign back in, I‘m not going to use the app to read ARCs.

I‘m looking at my Netgalley ratio again. It‘s still low. It‘s not where I want it to be but I‘ll get there. I DNF‘d a lot of the ARCs that I was sent. A long time ago when my ratio was low like it is now, I noticed that reading books from the Read Now section on the website really helped get my ratio up because I don‘t have to worry about my request being approved or anything so maybe I should read books that say Read Now or Listen Now on them.

I just saw this email from St. Martin‘s Press for their Fall 2024 books and I requested books from all of their imprints. I requested whatever books they were offering. I wanted to take a break from reading ARCs and I‘ll get a break until the Fall. I‘m excited. I don‘t know what books I‘ll be accepted for. There‘s no guarantee that I‘ll be accepted for every book but I‘ll be happy with whatever I get.

Another book app I‘m on is Fable and they have updated the app for the new year with some new features. This will be really cool. I‘m looking forward to trying them out.

I see that a lot of people have had issues getting on StoryGraph. I haven‘t had any problems loading up StoryGraph recently but I have been mentioning StoryGraph a lot. I‘m sure other people have also mentioned StoryGraph. I‘ve been on StoryGraph for 3 years and I would recommend it. It has really cool reading stats if you like looking at reading stats.

I signed up for this website today that I saw advertised on Instagram. This is a new website I just found out about. It‘s called Book Chat Noir. I wanted to try it out and see what I think. It doesn‘t have an app right now but maybe eventually, the software developers for the website will make an app. For now, I decided to add the website to my Home Screen so it would be easier to access.

I just came up with a good idea to help me finish some book series I‘ve started. I have a whole spreadsheet but I‘ve only chosen 8 to finish. I‘m not giving myself a deadline to read them. I was looking at the spreadsheet I made and it seemed too intimidating so I thought it would be easier for me to read the book series I‘ve started if I only focus on reading a few of them which is what I‘m doing with my physical books too.

I decided to make another guide on Instagram for physical books I‘ve been ignoring. So far, I‘ve made a series of 5 episodes about this. This is making me excited to post about more of the physical books I have. This is going to be an ongoing series since I have so many books. I was thinking to myself,”How can I get excited about reading the books I own? How can I make this more fun?”

On Instagram recently, someone I followed named Mr D Reads made a reel where he was showing how to use guides on Instagram. I never even knew about them until I watched his reel. I made guides for my book reviews and I made a guide for the books I posted for On Wednesdays We Read Pink. I only posted 12 episodes for that series but I‘m thinking about starting it back up again. That was so much fun. I have a lot of Pink books I still haven‘t read.

I saw this template on Instagram and decided to join in. I‘m not seeing much of a difference between when I started and now. The only difference I see is in the way the book reviews look because I started using Canva to make my book reviews look better. I also recently experimented with removing the background from book pictures using my iPhone. I‘ve also been playing around with Canva and trying new things.

I was just on TikTok and I just discovered that I can save my own TikTok videos or any other videos I see to a collection. I made a collection on TikTok just for the videos I share where I‘m posting books I haven‘t read. This will be helpful if I‘m ever struggling to figure out what to read. Another thing I discovered that I could do is take screenshots on TikTok of books that people are recommending.

Pickpick

Sarah Ridley writes and edits educational books for children and young people. Anne Rooney is an experienced writer of non-fiction for children and adults. Ryan Wheatcroft is an experienced children‘s book illustrator. This solid introduction to online safety for readers aged 6+ (part of a series) covers most of the core issues but I wished it had addressed in-game purchases and in-game currency as it‘s something children need to understand.
