Easter Bonnet Murder | Leslie Meier
4 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
Part-time reporter Lucy Stone isnt about to put all her eggs in one basket during a frantic Easter in Tinkers Coveespecially when it comes to cracking a deadly mystery . . . Known for its cheerful staff and elaborate annual Easter Bonnet Contest, the Heritage House senior center regularly attracts new residents and positive press. But once the towns retired librarian, Miss Julia Tilley, checks in to recover from an illness, Lucy sees a side of the facility that isnt quite so perfect and pristine. And the place may soon be making headlines for different reasons following an unexplained disappearance . . . Lucy cant fathom how Agnes Neal could go missing from assisted living over a silly Easter bonnet contest, or why few seem concerned as signs point to foul play. A retired journalist with an independent mind, Agnes had an eye for details and little interest in conforming to catty cliques or rules set by her caretakerstraits that threatened some and angered others . . . While police stall the investigation without answers, Lucy realizes backstabbing has no age limit when alarming parallels bloom between her daughters college frenemies and social circles at Heritage House. Gathering clues as flimsy as a half-eaten milk chocolate bunny, Lucy must discover what happened to Agnesbefore her own story becomes another springtime tragedy left unsolved.

This was a great cozy mystery. I love this series. It is light and fluffy, but a solid mystery. Love the main character. A lot of intrigue at the nursing home.

Easter Bonnet Murder is the 28th installment in the Lucy Stone cozy mystery series. This book finds Lucy getting closer to that empty nest, it's been fun watching her children grow and fly the coop. Lucy is as busy as ever. When her dear friend Miss Tilley falls ill, She convaleses at Heritage House, the towns assisted living facility until she is well enough to go back to her own home. Mystery, murder, and mayhem (cont in comments)...

TheHeartlandBookFairy follow. Cliques, competitiveness, and long held secrets gives us a large cast of characters to consider as the murder suspect. I really enjoyed the description of some of the characters in this book along with the wonderfully descriptive scene of is the of the Easter Bonnet competition. Lucy finally puts all of the pieces of the puzzle together and the culprit is apprehended. With this mystery solved and the mystery of where her recent college grad daughter will will live once she starts her new job finally nearing resolution… will Lucy's life finally settle down? Not likely! 2y
