This book is from 1990 during the heart of the “Satanic Panic”. This book is how to talk to a child who was abused in satanic rituals at day care. This book may have been considered fine at the time, but there is no way this would be reprinted today. First off we deal with children‘s trauma in different ways now than they did 30 years ago, plus, while there was a day care doing satanic rituals, it was nowhere enough to need a book.

LibrarianRyan @vivastory Really that's interesting. I got it from a list on Book Riot of the books that wouldn't be published now. No that makes me want to check out whisper down the lane. 2y
Zoes_Human @LibrarianRyan I know that list! I read the one with squirrels and crackhouses. 2y

LibrarianRyan @Zoes_Human I read 8 of them. I don't think I read the squirrel one. And I didn't read the aztec because I read it years ago when it came out. I love that entire series and I think they could be printed today.

And that Crack House book - WOWOWOWOWOW. My fav was Little Zizi

Zoes_Human @LibrarianRyan I remember just sitting aghast and thinking “Did ... did ... this book just burn down a metaphorical crackhouse?“ I was just floored. Not at all what I expected from the authors of “Serendipity“, “Flutterby“, and “The Wheedle on the Needle.“

But again, I do remember that era and EVERYBODY has a anti-drug thing going.

LibrarianRyan @Zoes_Human yes they did. I was just 👁👁. 2y
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards This is my favorite book featured on the Awful Library Books blog! Most of them are just outdated, but this one had a whole WTF? element. 2y
