There's a Hole in My Bucket: A Journey of Two Brothers | Royd Tolkien

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Memoir of a man completing the bucket list left for him by his younger brother who died of motor neuron disease (ALS in the US). The love between the brothers was truly touching, but many of the list items and flashbacks to his brother‘s illness in the middle of the book sort of merged together without adding much else to the overall story. Most of it could have been expressed in a beautiful long essay. Not sure it needed 345 pages.

fredthemoose @Roary47 Hollywood Park was the 4th, and it was really good! I held things up and sent both that and the Mr. Rogers to @mnjacques at the same time at the end of June (I think?? 😬). Hopefully it makes its way to you eventually!

4✨ I went into this book knowing I would have the feels. The great grandsons of J.R.R. Tolkien have had many adventures together. As brothers they were really close, and when the younger brother, Mike, passes away from Motor Neuron Disease it is up to our author Royd to complete his bucket list.

Roary47 Filled with memories, an insight into MND, and moving forward. It was really heartfelt and at times could be very funny. My only complaint was jumping around on the timeline so much. Had to picture my Lord of the Rings Build a Bears of course! I‘m not sure if we are still doing these, but I think they are fun and I read more on the weekend when I have a plan. I honestly hadn't noticed the last name of the author when I chose this as my Kindle First Read for July.

I was drawn to the story of 2 brothers and the bucket list the younger left behind for the older to fulfill.

Moving, funny, and informative. Tolkien did a great job with this story of brotherly love.

What a beautiful book. JRR Tolkien's grandsonn wrote this as a tribute to his brother who had ALS and passed away too soon. His brother gave Royd a bucket list to complete for him since he was never able to do everything he wanted to do. Follow Royd as he does some zany hijinks in the fulfillment of the list. Recommend
